hows the COL? I imagine its gotta be semi-decent but not ideal.kyle010723 wrote:Depend on what you are looking for I suppose. Fall is dominated by Football, during the Spring, well, most people probably do not want to go outside anyway. The campus is gorgeous, but that is very different from "fun." I would consider ND comparable with most college town school, and with Chicago just a short drive away, that is a big added bonus.cuboxing25 wrote:@kyle010723 hows the campus at ND? It's Indiana, things are very affordable here. Though I would highly recommend bringing your own car.cuboxing25 wrote:hows the COL? I imagine its gotta be semi-decent but not ideal.

Plan to submit my application tomorrow. Just curious, does ND conduct interviews?

I think I will be submitting my app either late this week, or early next. Did anybody else write the why ND? If so, how long did make it? I am working on my draft right now and its sitting at 1 page double spaced. Super excited to finally be applying, Notre Dame is a top choice for me.

From what I have gathered, the essay is essential and can make or break and applicant. My complete why ND essay was exactly 1 page. I just drilled a few points and kept it short and sweet.

Hmmm well I will have to reread my essay before submission ha... Yea I've got pretty strong connections to the areas, so I'm hoping that i can use the essay to boost my chances, but I guess we'll see how the cycle plays out!Westofeden wrote:superpatton wrote:I think I will be submitting my app either late this week, or early next. This is correct. The why ND essay is crucial. As said before, South Bend is not an area many people think about when considering somewhere to spend 3 years in. So it is essential that you sell to the admission how you are connected to the school or the area. Or why you think ND is a good fit for you. While I understand that many "why our school" essays are essentially boilerplate copy and paste, ND does place a much heavier weigh on recruiting students that actually want to be here instead of just someone that applies to every school they can.Westofeden wrote:superpatton wrote:I think I will be submitting my app either late this week, or early next. Would a solid way to structure the essay be to mention the programs at NDLS and why they interest me so much? Thats what I've done in my Why NLDS essay.

If you think you can pull it off without sounding generic, the more specific the program is the better. I.e. if you just mention "because ND has a program in business law," that would be generic because most law schools have programs in business law.cuboxing25 wrote: Would a solid way to structure the essay be to mention the programs at NDLS and why they interest me so much? I would also sprinkle in some high ethical standards and being an ethical lawyer, and if you have any Midwest or ND ties, put that in too.

So it seems last year the first acceptances went out today. Are we thinking some acceptances being sent today?

Nope :/ been complete since 10/31.cuboxing25 wrote:anyone hear anything?
Btw... what prompted the use of the 2013 thread instead of starting a new 2014 thread (I apologize if this has been covered already...)?

I submitted the very first day Notre Dame's application opened, and I'm still sitting at complete. I'm a bit bummed since last year the first decisions went out 11/12.

To all the 0Ls visiting the law school this weekend, feel free to stop and talk to law students. Most of us don't bite!

Status is still "Application Complete" but the date changed to today. Also, I am pretty confident that the paragraph at the top of the SC page is different than what it used to be - thought I would mention that.

The language actually seems less definite... It went from "the typical applicant receives a decision in three to five weeks" to "rolling admissions allows for extending the review process."
