are one of your options UC Davis too?, I just realised that class of 2013 for Davis was really good, and big law percentage got a bump compared to last year.ManoftheHour wrote:Dude, 71.2% FT Bar passaged required jobs.

I don't know about anyone else, but I've been checking my Application Statis at least 10 times per day... The struggle!

Why don't you use the prepaid envelope included in your admissions packet?SparkyZZZ wrote:Hmmm...I guess I am just going to send the deposit to the general address for the law school admissions and hope I am right....

Yes. I just deposited today. They threw me a lot of $$$. The MLK scholarship would have made them my serious #1 (as of now), but sadly, I was only an alternate (I'm not even sure if they ding people for that).deebanger wrote:are one of your options UC Davis too?, I just realised that class of 2013 for Davis was really good, and big law percentage got a bump compared to last year.ManoftheHour wrote:Dude, 71.2% FT Bar passaged required jobs.

Do you remember how many times your complete date changed before you got an answer?

so what was the consensus regarding the Application Status Check and the waitlist? Decision made and 0.00 means waitlist?

Just submitted the first seat deposit. Based on my options, it was the most pragmatic approach.

Deposited today. Anyone think there's a shot at ND raising or negotiating after the deposit deadline?

Based on what I've heard from admissions, they intentionally give out more $$ then they have, knowing some will decline to attend. So all these people putting $$ back in the pot might actually not being putting $$ back in the pot. It might not have even been there in the first place.yossarian71 wrote:Deposited today. Pardon the ignorance, but why was it expected that federal clerkships would decrease?ndirish2010 wrote:Federal clerkship rate, as expected, took a bit of a dive. I wasn't even aware of ten people in my class that had got federal clerkships, I thought maybe seven. But the number will be back up in 2014, they've had some outstanding success.
Will the two SCOTUS clerkships help improve other Fereral clerkships for next year?

I'm just saying that I knew that it would go down because I knew who got federal clerkships in my class.RollingthruLawSchool wrote:Pardon the ignorance, but why was it expected that federal clerkships would decrease?ndirish2010 wrote:Federal clerkship rate, as expected, took a bit of a dive. No, the SCOTUS clerkships are outliers, not indicative of any trend. They were exceptional students, both ranked in the top three people in their class.

they were obviously exceptional students, but I would think having two Scotus clerkships in one year would help students in the following year trying to obtain federal clerkships because a judge might look more favorably on the nd name during the next application cyclendirish2010 wrote:I'm just saying that I knew that it would go down because I knew who got federal clerkships in my class.RollingthruLawSchool wrote:Pardon the ignorance, but why was it expected that federal clerkships would decrease?ndirish2010 wrote:Federal clerkship rate, as expected, took a bit of a dive. District and circuit judges don't follow that stuff. They have their own idiosyncratic procedures to determine who they want, and I can almost guarantee that it has nothing to do with the previous year's SCOTUS hiring numbers. I'd like to think I know something about this since I'm a current district court clerk.

I just realized my post might have came off wrong, but apparently you didn't take it that way so that's good. I was just trying to make the point that judges usually have no idea who SCOTUS Justices have hired as clerks unless they have some sort of connection to the Justice or the student.RollingthruLawSchool wrote:touchéndirish2010 wrote:District and circuit judges don't follow that stuff. Submitted my deposit in the mail via their prepaid envelope today. The latest newsletter said that any envelope post marked on or before 4/15 would be good to go, so I hope that remains true.
