I had a very similar interview - small firm in DC. I wore a suit, minus the tie.

Ladygirl here, so I can't speak to the suit, but I recently had my Northwestern interview with a partner at a large regional firm, although it was at a restaurant, not his office. I work in a law firm that is somewhere between business casual and business, so I wore what I had to work that day. Good luck with your interview!

Uh, ladies can't wear suits?

Sorry, you're right, poorly stated on my part. Absolutely could have, point was I dressed nicely, short of a suit, and I think sometimes the standards (unfortunately) are a little different.

Yeah, I would go with a suit. I did my interview on their campus, and I wore a suit (and yes, as a lady, I do wear suits.). I feel in this case, suits are the rule.

That's accurate for all of your interviewing going forward: school, job, or otherwise. Having several friends who are student interviewers, I feel comfortable saying that suits are pretty much expected for applicant interviews. It might not necessarily hurt your chances to wear something else, but a suit is considered the standard, and I would wear one if at all possible.

I'm planning on wearing a suit and tie to my interview coming up. At the very least it shows you're taking the interview very seriously and are actively trying to put your best foot forward.

Interviewing off-campus. Interviewer specifically said to dress casually, so pressed pants and dress shirt it is.

I interviewed on campus. All the other applicants in the waiting room had suits (females included), except one guy who was wearing a sports jacket/slacks and no tie. Still looked professional, but suit is the best choice here considering 95% of everyone else will be in one.

Unless you've been specifically told by your interviewer, wear a suit whether on-campus or off. Especially if you're going to their office. Suit AND tie, men. Ladies, skirt or pants suit, not too tight, plain white or pastel blouse, no cleavage, boring jewelry, 2-3" heels, pantyhose.

What to do if your interviewer has not responded yet?

My application is still incomplete despite having my on-campus interview last week as well as mailing my ED certificate in. It should have arrived by now. How long do I wait before contacting admissions? I'm on a Dec. 1 deadline.

I called them today because mine was showing as incomplete following an interview. Mine was actually complete but my status just was not updated. Definitely give them a call. They are helpful!

I'm a still a bit confused regarding interviews. Is an interview a good sign or does everyone who applies early get assigned an interviewer?

Would an auto reject get an interview?

You opt-in for an interview via the application, so it doesn't say anything about your chances.

And gbelle: thanks!

Did everyone else get a status checker thing from Northwestern? I never got that or a confirmation or anything, and I submitted my application on Friday...

It took them weeks to send me mine, when I finally emailed them about it they insisted they sent me one. Eventually they just sent it me it "again". I wouldn't worry too much about it for another week or so

I believe it took a week or so before I received a status checker.

I just did the same thing and turned out mine was also complete - the checker just hadn't been updated. The woman I spoke with was very helpful and updated it right then, which I could see on my end immediately.

Great!

Gold star for Northwestern admissions office. I've only had great experiences with the people who work there...

does the status checker actually change beyond 'Completed'?

does it go to UR?

Nope, it eventually goes from complete to the ominous "Decision Letter Available within 24 Hours", then you check the decision letter delivery site (link is on the regular status check page) like a crazy person until a PDF of your letter shows up there. So get excited for that.

Got my ED certification to the admissions office today. Is it not possible to check 24 hours after you see the "ominous 'Decision Letter Available within 24 Hours'"? I would love to be able to see that post, and then just check the same time on the next day. Probably won't have the discipline, though. Can we at least assume that the Decision letter won't be sent outside of regular-ish office hours?

How long did it take for RD people to go complete after their interview?

Its been a month since my interview and I'm wondering if I am just freaking out or if this is unusual and I should contact them.
