The roller coaster goes all the way down and then to the right. I sense a good day for extreme splitters. :D

Really hope so. But when I interviewed on campus earlier this month the admission officer said it will take 8 - 10 weeks (since interview completion) for a decision to be made (am applying AJD). If she is right guess I should not be expecting a result this week~~

Me too. Based on Johann's wording of "the rest of the week, however" made it seem like the remainder of the week (today and tomorrow) will be seeing plenty of action.

If she was right, that would mean AJD decisions are at least 4 weeks away. Which would mean they plan on missing their Feb 1st deadline by.....all of February. I think we would hear something from NW if that was happening. Let's assume she wasn't considering your AJD status when she said that.

I think you received the standard statement regarding the timeline for a response. I was told the same thing back in October, when I interviewed on campus. However, the website seems to indicate that if your application is compete by the deadline, you will receive a response by Feb 1. We shall see!

Yeah, she probably wasn't aware you were AJD. Given the May start time for AJD, I'm pretty sure they plan on sticking to the Feb. 1 deadline.

Just wait until the Match! At least this time around you get to choose....

Really hope you guys are right. Is 2/1 an official deadline for AJD decisions? given the application deadline of 1/15, a decision by 2/1 sounds like a really quick turnaround. I wasn't expecting anything this week at all until noticing you guys' discussions, now Im gonna start feeling nervous

This is probably a stupid question, but does declining to interview on your application significantly hurt your chances?

I thought my numbers made me pretty much a lock (3.6/173), and I wasn't all that interested in NU when I first applied. But, for personal reasons, I am now much more interested in going to LS in Chicago. As UChi isn't splitter friendly, NU is looking like a real option. Should I be worried?

Nope. Choosing not to interview really only hurts applicants who's numbers are on the fence, you should be fine.

Wouldn't you just ride the waitlist then? Couldn't hurt, if you were planning to defer anyway.

Btw, you can take that dual professional school spouse thing and shove it. No way would I be doing this if my wife was looking at med school! Better man then me, fivestar.

No. Declining to interview shouldn't hurt your changes. But . . . notifying admissions via TLS that a certain applicant with a 3.6/173 who declined to interview wasn't all that interested in their school until geography changed their mind? That could cause some hurt. /S

Hoping for the best for you! You and your wife must be even more anxious right now.

I definitely did a similar thing for a different school... about 5 hours later, got waitlisted. Interesting "coincidence".

So, if you'll all excuse me, I'm going to go to all the other threads and post my stats and address and a fun story about how each school is and always has been and always will be my top choice.

But, Johann, Northwestern really is my absolute dream school :) Show me (and everyone) some love today!
