I don't know about you all, but I'm finding the essay topics very uninspiring and pretty low level. They read like essay prompts for 15 year olds....sigh. Also for those of you wondering what hold means, one of their admissions officers described it as "not ready to let go" Take that as you will.

Yeah, I totally wouldn't want to do those hold essays. Is that the point?pixy1900 wrote:I don't know about you all, but I'm finding the essay topics very uninspiring and pretty low level. NU wants to know who is willing to say yes and spend a ton of time trying to get accepted. I found the essays to be very enjoyable but I imagine that other people who are only slightly interested in NU and have great prospects elsewhere will just ignore the essays and fall off the wait list.
Sigh, I just want a chance to write them. Instead of DEAD SILENCE.

If you do please message me their response. Almost same complete and interview times.metroidbum wrote:Would it be neurotic and bad if I called them because it has been nine weeks since my interview (jan 7th)? and I was initially complete in mid november?

NU doesn't consider applications complete until the interview. I wouldn't call it neurotic. But seven weeks seems early to me.metroidbum wrote:Would it be neurotic and bad if I called them because it has been nine weeks since my interview (jan 7th)? and I was initially complete in mid november?

What if you interviewed before Dec? I'm at a little over 14 weeks since Dec. 1.yossarian71 wrote:NU doesn't consider applications complete until the interview. I wouldn't call it neurotic. I don't know. I would try some sort of LOCI/app update. Find something to bullshit more or less before calling and asking. Johann tweets seem like he feels relatively negatively about people just calling to ask why it's taking so long.str8yolked wrote:What if you interviewed before Dec? I mean, if you are polite--"I was wondering if there is anymore information with which I can provide you in order for you to make your decision?"--I doubt a simple inquiry call could hurt, but what are you going to learn really?
Whereas a LOCI/update hopefully adds something positive to your application and puts it back on top of the pile.
But. This is mostly speculation. I don't really know.

I think that the quotation above is the best possibility. I called a T14 (not NU) last year with that line and was connected to an adcomm. I was told that I could write a "Why X" statement, did so, and was admitted a week later. I think that if you have good numbers, NU may be trying to protect their yield. If you demonstrate that NU is a top choice, it may put you over the hump.yossarian71 wrote:"I was wondering if there is anymore information with which I can provide you in order for you to make your decision?"--I doubt a simple inquiry call could hurt, but what are you going to learn really?str8yolked wrote:What if you interviewed before Dec? Also, don't be afraid to say NU is THE top choice of yours. They want to admit ppl who will come.

Complete since Mid Feb.
Love the program and direction of the school so much, but @ this point, JUST SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY.
See Northwestern? We are already connecting. Just let us in, and promote the foundation of a new best buds friendship! It would be morally unacceptable not to.

I'm still considering options based on the financial offers that I receive. I am also open to that HLS acceptance if it comes. I hate the thought of 200k in debt.
I'm just a sucker for a happy ending, I guess. You were desperately looking for a way to make your family post-grad plans work, the pieces came together, and life was good. Fairytale happily-ever-after kinda shit. Now you're throwing NU back into the mix and my life is flipped turned upside-down. If I can't count on random internet strangers to provide stability, who can I count on?!

I think you've got to start approaching this like the person you are trying to get with at the bar. Play a little hard to get, then your decision will be more exciting!yossarian71 wrote:+1leigh912198972 wrote:Pleeeeeease today, NU. PLEAZ

How do I slip something into NU's drink? This plan seems half-baked, Hawkin.JustHawkin wrote:I think you've got to start approaching this like the person you are trying to get with at the bar. Wait. Does anyone know where Johann's favorite bar is?
