Maybe a little rhyme and reason -- i.e., numbers significantly below both medians don't get PT. But beyond that, doesn't seem to add up. I'm sure they have their reasons, and in theory it's a great idea. But I think having both the fastest decision-making process out there (PT) and one of the slowest (non-PT) just doesn't look very good, now that we're all able to see each other's situations.Otunga wrote:There doesn't look to be any rhyme or reason to it. I agree, and it definitely makes matters worse when there is truly zero communication between adcomms and the non-PT track group ever. You just get day after day of seeing the school reach out to new people who haven't even bothered applying yet to invite them for PT, but truly nothing to people who applied early and wait for months.vuthy wrote:Maybe a little rhyme and reason -- i.e., numbers significantly below both medians don't get PT. It's a phenomenal school, don't get me wrong, but unless you're HYS you have serious competitors all around you. When those competitors do a truly monumentally better job at communicating with applicants that's a problem.

Agreed wrt PT and non PT applicants. I have a good shot at admission, but didn't get PT invite. I went complete before thanksgiving but I haven't heard anything since. It sucks

This makes me want to see if soliciting a PT would be doable...deputydog wrote:Agreed wrt PT and non PT applicants. I have a good shot at admission, but didn't get PT invite. I went complete before thanksgiving but I haven't heard anything since. It sucks
ETA anyone out there with Duke not really on their radar want to try this?

Already tried when my December score went up. Said they had used all of the PT spots up already...JustHawkin wrote:This makes me want to see if soliciting a PT would be doable...deputydog wrote:Agreed wrt PT and non PT applicants. First off, that seems to run counter to some of the posts I've seen in recent weeks (I could be wrong) of people who have been given a PT invite in January. If that's true, this feels sort of shady.LoganFL wrote:Already tried when my December score went up. Second, I don't even know what that means to "run out of" PT invites. Unless you have reason to believe your staff is overworked this instant, you'd think they could just take your application around that day for PT and handle it on the same track.
Finally though, at least the application deadline is almost here, so by the end of the month they'll be done looking at PT applications.

No idea. I was complete 12/2, UR1 12/9, UR2 2/5, and haven't heard anything yet! I don't know what to think about the multiple UR dates.pketpket wrote:Just went U2

I am freaking out. I live in Durham and it is literally snowing outside and their adcomm are still working hard. I am hoping it is a good sign they are giving my app the twice over. Anyone have an idea what the rate of admit is for folks that get two or more review dates??? Thanks!!!

my numbers are quite a bit above both 75ths and I didn't get a PT invite.Otunga wrote:There doesn't look to be any rhyme or reason to it. Maybe they do PT as a yield increasing move--if you make people who are on the fence feel special, they're more likely to attend Duke?

Re: Duke c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 Cycle)
Hey guys - checking in. Just got into Duke and it was my first acceptance this cycle (I sent all my apps at the end of January, because I was TLS ignorant until recently. Although on the plus side, I got almost all my T14 fee waivers in January despite taking the LSAT in October, so maybe something to consider for future applicants)
FYI - received the Priority track invite in January. Applied on 1/27 and went complete on the same day. Email acceptance on 2/6.
Anyone know what kind of numbers are needed to get a half-tuition or even full-tuition scholarship?
Wish everyone the best in enduring the agonizing wait.

This can give you a feel. Sort by money and be sure to note whether the applicant was URM or not when looking through the list.MA980 wrote:Hey guys - checking in. You can definitely send a "Why Duke". I did so after the fact and the woman who replied was extremely nice about it. I think Duke encourages sending materials if you want to update your application.

Re: Duke c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 Cycle)
Hey y'all. I am a URM PT applicant who was just put on priority reserve yesterday. Not the most encouraging, but I guess it could be substantially worse. It feels like a wait list, but it's my understanding that it's more like a hold. Any idea of what PR holds chances wise? I'm going to send in a "Why Duke?" statement because something tell me for PT applicants, since your LSAT supposedly (SUPPOSEDLY) are noteworthy, if you have a a median or above median GPA statistically you should stand a decent chance, barring some sort of yield protecting (right?). I actually really want to attend Duke, especially because I'm in love with the JD/MA program
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
