Good luck everyone. Current UCLA 1L here. I'll try to answer questions as my schedule allows.

Re: UCLA c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
I'm not from California but am interested in relocating to the LA-area for the long-term. What's the recruiting process like for those who want to stay in LA, either for firm practice or public interest, but who aren't from the area? I do know a good amount of people in LA but beyond that I don't have the typical "ties" checklist (like high school in LA, college in LA, etc). Any tips/advice/anecdotes?BruinStudent wrote:Good luck everyone. Current UCLA 1L here. I'll try to answer questions as my schedule allows.

Good question. Unfortunately I can't speak much to it because 1) 1L summer job recruitment is just starting to ramp up, but won't be at full speed until spring; and 2) I'm a long-time CA resident so geographic ties to the area is something I don't have to worry much about. However, I know that the vast majority of graduates stay in the SoCal market.KingofSplitters55 wrote:I'm not from California but am interested in relocating to the LA-area for the long-term. Checking in; I went complete 11/01. California COL and taxes *shakes fist at liberals* scare me, but maybe UCLA will be nice and give me money.

You guys are mentioning knowing the date your application went complete... How, since there's no status-checker? Are they sending out an email?
Suddenly concerned my app is not complete.

For people who have been accepted, how long did it take receive a decision after your complete date? I just went complete recently and am wondering if I might hear before the end of the year.bcoco9292 wrote:wowhio wrote:You guys are mentioning knowing the date your application went complete... From the looks of things, they seem to send out acceptances at the first of every month. I'd say there's a good chance you'll get a decision Dec 1.
