Re: UCLA c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
I received this email this morning and it confused me tremendously. I submitted in early October and am above both 75ths. Had a June score and took October, but didn't think I'd get something like this so late?

Dear thestatusguo,
Thank you for applying to UCLA School of Law. This email is to confirm that your application is complete.
It is difficult for us to predict when you will receive a final decision. We will make admission decisions through the end of April. Admission decisions will be sent through email, so please let us know if your email address changes.
We greatly appreciate your patience during the review process. We know this is a stressful period and we want to assure you that your application will be thoroughly reviewed by our Admissions Committee.
Sincerely,
Julie Skrupa

Yeah, that's the standard "your file is complete and is now in review" email. Weird that it took so long before it was marked complete...

Just to give you some (hopefully) good news I am above 75th LSAT and just below Median GPA and I got that exact email on 1/3 then my acceptance call came 1/6. So the turnaround from complete to decision hopefully won't be long for you!thestatusguo wrote:I received this email this morning and it confused me tremendously. Re: UCLA c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
Got my acceptance call from the dean and email last week!
Still waiting on official acceptance letter to come in the mail
For those who got accepted and received the mail already, when did you know about how much scholarship you got? Dean did not mention any during the phone call and I just assumed that it'll be on the email but nothing.
Do we usually get scholarship info in the mail and not when we get dean's phone call or unofficial acceptance email?

When I got the call, DS told me the scholarship info, and it later came in the mail. However, since I really felt the need to see it in writing, I politely emailed the admissions department a few days after the call, saying basically "DS said I got $$$, but I can't find it anywhere on the website." They forwarded me a copy of the letter that later showed up in my admin packet.wygtsmile wrote:Got my acceptance call from the dean and email last week!

Just got the waitlist email... pretty bummed. I have been accepted to several higher ranked schools, just really love UCLA and the PI opportunities. Hope others get better news today.

I was sitting in class today and got a call from a 310 number... I should have just left and answered the phone, most agonizing 17 minutes of my life while I waited for class to end so I could return the call!
Long story short, in at UCLA! Submitted 1/2, complete 1/7. $$ over the phone from Dean Schwartz.

Just got a call tonight! In with 15k per year scholarship. Any idea how long it takes to get California residency?

Re: UCLA c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
From what I've read, it's one of those lovely states where it's possible to gain residency in time for your second year so long as you move in a bit prior (a month? Maybe less, but if I end up moving out there, that's what I'm going for) to law school and do everything necessary as soon as possible at every turn.frcarpen wrote:Just got a call tonight! It's kind of unfair... CA residents get the nice in-state tuition too! (Not that I can complain about benefiting from both $$ and in-state.)Bajam wrote:Seems like $$ is going to Cali people. No love for the east coast

If you don't live in CA right now, then you can get it starting your second year. There will be a lecture a few days in to the school year where the people in charge of residency tell you about all the requirements (getting a CA license, staying for summer etc.) so you should probably go to that.frcarpen wrote:Just got a call tonight! Don't know if LS does it any differently, but for my undergrad stuff after I had only lived here 1yr + 5 days prior to the start of the semester I got residency.frcarpen wrote:Just got a call tonight! In with 15k per year scholarship. Any idea how long it takes to get California residency?

Hey guys, I was accepted over the phone today with a 166 LSAT and a 3.85 GPA. There was no mention of any scholarship. UCLA is my top choice by far but I don't want to be saddled with debt; what do you think my chances are of getting some money?

I didn't get any money at all with a 169/4.0 :/ I'm guessing I'll have to negotiate hard with higher ranked schools that I get scholarships at if I want to try to get money out of UCLA. But in all honesty, it probably just means UCLA is out for me (Although I really loved my visit there).sam71191 wrote:Hey guys, I was accepted over the phone today with a 166 LSAT and a 3.85 GPA. You guys need to slow your roles.
