To all those caught in the polar vortex... It's 55 in Berkeley right now.

Hah, like I'm not checking the weather there every hour. It's -17 here, -40 or colder with wind chill.

+1. Every time I look out the window, Berkeley becomes an even more appealing option. I think the white mound outside used to be my car :P

Head about 8 hours south and San Diego was a nice 72 degrees. 55 seems chilly to me...

I was thinking the same. I grew up outside of San Jose and now live in the paradise of San Diego. When I return to the Bay Area for holidays and such I am reminded how cold it gets... and then I see the temperatures of the rest of the country and realize how vastly different my definition of "cold" is from other people's.

Yeah, don't even talk.

I'm really amused when people in the Bay Area call their season "winter."

I moved from Southern CA to the East Coast last year. I thought last year was cold...this is a different story currently. It's about 20 degrees with wind chills into -10. I no longer think that NorCal is cold. lol.

lol I will gladly take 72 or 55 over -37 wind chill... Threw some hot water outside today, it quickly turned into ice

I feel for you...but keep in mind that less than 13 months ago I was in a place where it was in the 70s during the day and the 40s during the night throughout the winter. -40 sounds painful, GET out of there as soon as you can! well..not right now, stay inside right now. haha.

Oh yeah, I feel you. I was looking at my UG city earlier and their 20s sounded heavenly :D I can't even imagine the joys of SoCal.

By the way, I was in Berkeley over break and visited the law school. There were no students around, but I got a few pictures that I thought I would post. They're not sizing correctly, so links instead of images.

The main reading room: http://i.imgur.com/ly8Rre1.jpg

Another of the reading room: http://i.imgur.com/WAVA4yj.jpg

And a rooftop cafe/terrace thing: http://i.imgur.com/gH0M8J5.jpg

Also, a word of warning: there's a water fountain on the second floor by the registrar's office that will squirt water in your eye if you bend down before turning it on. It is not a pleasant experience.

It is absolutely incredible. The transition for me coming from Nor Cal (which I love) to here has been amazing weather wise. I cannot imagine coming from somewhere that has real winters and experiences real cold.

But yeah in the big scheme of things even the Berkeley/Bay Area of CA has insanely nice weather compared to most places.

Not really, sorry. I wasn't even thinking about pictures until the end. I'll check when I get home, but I think the rest of them have me or a family member. :)
