Np ^^
Also, in reply to your previous post. Usually there's a complete stage. They might really be interested in your application. The alternative is that adcomm has been working a lot of overtime lately and is trying to get a broad look at the whole applicant pool for excellent applicants before making further decisions, since their application deadline was February 1st.

I turned in my app on 11/20 and went under review 12/2.
I still haven't heard back yet, even though it feels like most people around my dates already have their decisions. I'm not FR either, just hanging out at the UR crowd.
Did they lose my app or something?
Should I be waiting for a ding/waitlist?

To be wait listed you have to be FR'ed first. Unfortunately, I have no other answers.

That's what I thought as well... It's probably a ding since I don't have great numbers but I wish they'd do it already :/

Can anyone give me a little bit of reassurance (or just crush my dreams nicely)?

I don't know what to think about my chances at this point either. After two weeks of nothing from Berkeley I'm beginning to think they're done admitting people outright...and I really wanted Berkeley

Have hope. The application deadline was Feb 1, and if LSN is to be believed, there's been nowhere near a wave large enough to suggest they've exhausted the 900+ offers they typically send out each year. This has been a weird cycle for a lot of schools, so I'm just telling myself to keep expecting the unexpected.

My stats are 169/3.75 with average-strong softs. I applied 1/2, went UR 1/13 with no movement since. Should I be expecting a ding? Or is there another wave of FR? I don't think I'm an auto-admit with those numbers and I'm just curious about others' opinions.
It's likely either Berkeley or BU for me, since my boyfriend is Stanford/Harvard (admitted to both already) and I wouldn't mind compromising as much. I don't particularly want to go to BU if I get into another school comparable to Berkeley, so I'm reallllly hoping for this one. Just have some anxiety and wondering if anyone has something to say! Thanks in advance.
Berk really seems to value "holistic" analy more than any top school; admissions #s bear this out. You're obviously not auto-admit or auto-ding; it's hard to say with them. I will suggest that an overwhelming percentage of people on TLS seem to think they have above-average softs, which is basically impossible ... do you have URM going for you? LGBT? Many years of WE? Those things can help.

Big if.
ETA: I still think there's a lot of Berkeley spots left. I just don't trust LSN as representative of very much.

This interview may not hold true anymore, but here is hope that there is at least 1/4 seats still open.

I will also suggest that this is more than a little concerning. Your BF can go to any school he pleases, but you have to go to the best options nearby? Unless this is a longstanding relationship and you're confident about a commitment, I would think lonnnng and hard. I was in grad school for many years, and I know A LOT of stories with this as the opening chapter ... try to guess how many had happy endings. Most involved 21-22 year olds.

I think it's premature to get glum about Berkeley. The last "big" admit wave was followed by a bunch of FRs, and it took place very soon after our apps were submitted. (Hope that doesn't seem stalker-ish, but I remember you posting around the same time as me.) Didn't they announce on Twitter that those FRs represented the "first half"? My prediction is that we'll see another significant admit wave in the next couple of weeks consisting of late applicants and first-round FRs followed closely by a lot of people being sent to the second FR batch.

pffft well this thread got discouraging remarkably fast.
edit: b/c of the relationship talk, not the chances for late admits. im in the reverse situation - my bf will (hopefully?) be following me. otherwise there's 6+ years down the drain.

There's also been more than a few rejection emails sent out. I'm thinking early applicants still in the game at this point are just that - still in the game.

I hope you're right. And I remember submitting around the same time as you as well, so if that's stalker-esque behavior, we're both stalkers

This interview may not hold true anymore, but here is hope that there is at least 1/4 seats still open.
Three February deadlines have passed since this interview, and the quality & quantity of law school applicants have dropped during each cycle. LSAC applications are down 15% through January this year, and this follows double-digit declines during the previous two cycles. Harvard extended their deadline before the cycle specifically to accommodate Feb LSAT takers.
I know Berk dances to their own drumbeat, but I can't possibly imagine that they won't adjust to the reality that every school is facing. I'd be shocked if they made 75% of their decisions by late January. It just doesn't seem feasible anymore.

Just trying to spread the hope. OP was beginning to think they were finished admitting people.
It isn't clear whether you think there are more or less than 25% seats available, but my guess is that you think there are more at this point (why else would Harvard be extending their deadline to accommodate Feb LSAT takers?). In which case things look even better than stated in the interview.

I agree a little hope is warranted. It's a grim environment out there for even top schools - just look at how medians have dropped over the last few cycles. I wouldn't be surprised if the long wait is a product of adcom deliberations to see just how low they're willing to go to fill their class this year.

Re: UC Berkeley c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
I'm saying that, in the go-go days of apps, applying late in the cycle was a huge disadvantage. Only 25% of offers were left for people applying Holidays-or-later. I'm suggesting that your luck is better applying late in the cycle than it used to be, unless Berk a) is willing to REALLY drop class sizes or b) bucked the trends and had more apps than peer schools, relatively speaking. Those things are clearly possible, but I would (and did) bet that a January app is not a killer if you're at medians.
Empirical evidence suggests that the apply-early premium still exists, but is less powerful than it was several years ago.

Positive note people! It's Friday! End of a long week, let's all enjoy our Friday and weekend. Besides, we all have to remember everything we're all guessing is speculation.
