That's funny; I'd rather get accepted. :P

Sorry if it hasn't been made clear by 20 other people, but my comment was based on the theory that a ding was forthcoming since that's what the initial post was regarding. If so, I would rather get it and move on than sit around waiting for it. Same goes for an acceptance. hth

turtles wrote:is anyone else a little disgusted by the "just ding me" posts? it just seems like this kind of unproductive whining (which raises the question of why you applied in the first place) should have stopped when we graduated from high school. i'm not personally attacking anyone, but i'm just wondering why these posts are considered acceptable behavior for adults who recommended themselves for admission through their application.
"acceptable behavior for adults"? who made you the positivity police? don't be one of those people who confuse inflated confidence with actual ability or lack of confidence with a lack of ability...some people just aren't bred for self delusion. btw, you are very clearly and very personally attacking people...plus you totally misunderstood their point. Yale is the most selective school and also the one that keeps people waiting the longest, it's the last bittersweet sediment at the bottom of your cup, some people are eager to finish it up so that they might refill with the heady excitement of knowing for sure where they will be going.
"begs the question" is not something I consider a huge deal, though.

You guys are just better at handling rejection than I am, I guess. :)

Also, I approve of the begging the question discussion. Although the bastardized use is gaining traction, I'm glad there are still purists like LS22 fighting the good fight.

Fingers crossed...

Please, don't take this as an invitation to restart the 'just ding me' argument

It's from LSN, so very small sample size and all... but I share your  .
That shows like 15 of the 235 admit offers. I'm guessing the actual data isn't all red for February.

When I posted yesterday that I'd rather be accepted I didn't quite realize I was stepping into the middle of this whole debate thing. Generally agree with the consensus here that "just ding me" is perfectly fine venting and who am I to judge. Seriously I just wanted to add some positivity :)

Also, "begging the question": totally a pet peeve of mine as well.

Just scanning through last year's thread and found the posts from the first major wave of dings (Feb 8th). It included some of my c/o 2013 TLS faves like Mr. Elshal, elterrible, tyler.durden, ssanonymous, helix, Anonymous4444 and Teflon_Don. All of them ended up with other incredible options.

Obviously best of luck to everyone, but in the event that dings come this week, remember how tough it is to get into YLS and how many other amazing schools there are out there!
