Re: Yale c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
I think the 11s who don't make it in come in cycles when there isn't a lot of agreement among professors (ie, lots of 4-2-2 and stuff), so there just isn't as many 4-4-4s.
Also, lol at me getting a 4.
ETA: I will admit that "how to they delineate the number of fours and make sure they don't admit too many or have to reject 12s" has been the focus of quite a few runs recently

I could be wrong here, but I recall hearing about a forced curve for professors. So each professor is told they must give x many 4s, y many 3s and, z many 2s.scoobers wrote:I think the 11s who don't make it in come in cycles when there isn't a lot of agreement among professors (ie, lots of 4-2-2 and stuff), so there just isn't as many 4-4-4s.

Admittedly, it's possible that I "heard" this information in a dream. But it sounds vaguely plausible so I'm going with it.

well that's a relief. It can be hard to tell, you know. Sometimes there are moments when you have to stop yourself and think "wait, was I actually admitted to that LS or was that just dream #1478?"andapieceoftoast wrote:Asha said that in her webinar. Haha I know what you mean...I had a dream I got into Yale and then woke up and was like........hrmmmmmmmmm I hate my subconscious. It's so presumptuous!kershka wrote:well that's a relief. Re: Yale c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
it seems that the board consensus is that:
yale transparency = good
stanford black box = bad
meh. i'm not sure. there's something to be said about how not knowing anything might be preferable to getting a nightly tweet on how admittances are rolling in and being psychologically compelled to alternate between refreshing gmail (and spam folder) and tls until one either gets an email from yale or more realistically see the ecstatic tls post (with accompanying congratulations) which has the secondary effect of signifying that the wave is over, crushing hope once more. it gets old fourteen nights in a row but, as they say, hope springs eternal.

Yale would tweet this as soon as I had given up for the night. Good luck everyone! Hope a TLSer is included in tonight's batch!
