Kinda shocked that I wasn't in the ding wave.
They probably like something about you enough to keep you! A decent number of admits first get their JS1 on the waitlist, so there's hope.
<3 thank you, although I don't know that the hope is great for me

I have a feeling that JS meant it when she said in the blog post that you will be notified as soon as a decision is reached; with the hold status gone they may have incentive to accelerate the decision making progress to minimize our purgatory period, as evident from the post-JS1 dings this early. There seems to have been a few acceptances trickling down to a small batch of people every other week, and I have a feeling that rejections will also follow a similar pattern from this point on - a few per week/every other week.

On a side note, I got a question for my fellow JS1.5 people: have you also been experiencing prolonged silence from other top schools as well (e.g., CLS, Chi, Michigan, Penn)? I am starting to wonder whether my app has certain glaring weaknesses that are causing these delayed decisions. So far I have only gotten NYU from the 8 schools I applied to. If anyone is experiencing similar situations please PM me.

I applied to HYS, CCN, and Duke, and I got into Chicago, NYU, and Duke when I should be expected to given my numbers. I've been waiting on Columbia for months, but it seems like there are too many strong candidates also waiting for it to suggest a problem with my application at this point.

I also know that at least one JS1.5 and at least one JS1-rejectee landed Chicago and a Butler at CLS.

Oops, looks like I'm late to this thread. Got my ding email, but didn't see it until now. Actually I'm pretty relieved. If I had gotten in, I would probably what-ifed myself to death if I didn't go, but now my decision is getting simpler. Sorry for all others who got the ding though and congrats to everyone who got in =)

Thinking back to my JS1, she really wanted to know what I wanted to do with a law degree, what area of law, etc. So if, in general, you seemed shifty and uncertain, perhaps they hold that against you (because benighted 0L's should have their ideal future spread out before them in exact detail, or at least be capable of pretending they do). If you sent it all in and had your interview, though, there isn't much you can do but wait. Sometimes people don't like you and sometimes they're just buried under a mountain of folders filled with hopes, dreams, transcripts, and LSAT scores.

I got asked if there was a particular area of law I wanted to work in as well. I said that I hadn't decided yet, but that I was set on law and would work in a law firm for another two years if I couldn't apply until then. I think they want to see certain level of confidence that you are set on law or at least law school, but I don't know if they'd have an issue with not being set on a particular area of law. I asked Karen Buttenbaum about this, and she said that's it's expected that applicants would not yet have a clear idea of what kind of law they would want to work in.

It's just the time between the JS1 and the JS2. Or, as I like to call it, "JSHmmm…"

HOLY CRAP I'M GOING TO HOGWARTS HARVARD!!!

A huge thank you to the whole TLS community. Although I mostly lurked, this site was my rock when studying to retake the LSAT, and my anxiety provoking rock as I waited to hear back. Also, shout-out to Mike Spivey for his generosity, wise council, and for being an all around incredible human being.

I will add my details anonymously to the spreadsheet, but for now I'm off to celebrate!

when was your js1 and when did you get the call?!?
JS2 was second week of January. I had a non JS, JS1, and JS mentioned that X person really enjoyed our conversation. Not sure if that adds to the realm of TLS knowledge. I do not consider myself an exceptional interviewer, but I prepped thoroughly using the TLS guides, read all the interviewers' bios so I could make a personal connection with them (in a non-stalker way), and was brimming with the ole Harvard enthusiasm.

Best of luck to everyone, I hope to see you all at ASW!

When is the latest complete date to have received a rejection?

The spreadsheet says 12/3/2014, but does anyone know of any rejections happening for applicants who applied later than this?

There were a bunch of early January and mid January rejections (some without JS1s) yesterday I believe.

Thanks! I almost forgot about LawSchoolNumbers as a resource.

In case anyone else is interested, 01/21/2014 is the latest reported complete date to receive a rejection.

Have they been clearly moving by complete dates? Or do they jump backwards for pre-JS1 rejections.

Seems to me they're moving not based on complete date as they are by quality of the app:

1. Clear accepts
2. Clear rejects
3. People we really really like for some reason

For the most part they haven't made it to:

4. Pretty solid people above one median
5. Borderline people we'll probably waitlist
6. Borderline people who we'll probably rejet
