I'm having trouble thinking of anything that would be worth rejecting an otherwise solid applicant, save actual threats. Personally, I won't be deleting my post history, mostly because I try not to say stupid things. And if I do, then adcoms would be saving themselves trouble down the road and I'd deserve my rejection.

Hey, just curious, did you know I'd ban you for this dumb shtick? Here, I'll give you a few days to answer.

Good morning, friends!

Last year there were reported acceptances on the 22nd and the 29th (Tuesdays).

We haven't heard anything since last Thursday. Today is another Thursday.

Good morning bom! :)

I think you meant (Thursdays)? But yep, I agree with you; I have a good feeling about today. At this point they need to admit around 35 people to stay on point with where they were at the end of last January. That, coupled with the dates you mentioned, has me optimistic :)

However I would be surprised if I was lucky enough to be in that group. I have a feeling I'm going to be waiting until March for a decision.

Last year those dates were Tuesdays, but it's the week apart thing I'm concerned with.

And, well, I've had a good feeling about every day since January 11th, excluding (barely) weekends. So my hopes aren't actually too high anymore.

So what do the tea leaves tell us about when the next wave of JS2s will be?

I've heard similar stories - it's rare but it has happened in past years.

Yup, this is exactly the right message. It's not about your behaviour on TLS, its about your behaviour in public, and what that behaviour says about you as a person.

I think it's incredibly unbelievable that an admissions officer would search through TLS forums and post histories trying to figure out which user is which person. Even if they did try, matching up users and applicant names would be an inexact process, and to rely on their speculations to make admissions decisions would be pretty darn unethical and useless, honestly.

I hear that, but I also think TLS is a valuable tool to see what applicants think of the offices and the process for each school. The schools need to choose us, but we also need to choose them. I don't think adcomms search through threads just trying to find someone they can reject, but I think they do occasionally read these threads, and if something awful or offensively derogatory comes up, I could see them trying. For a lot of us, especially the people with a ton of posts, I think finding out who we are could be pretty easy.

ETA: As an extreme-but-not-too-implausible-example, let's say someone had an HLS interview and then posted something really offensive about the interviewer, making it clear that they just had the JS1 and where they are located. If you were the person that conducted the JS1, don't you think you'd be curious who the person that said that offensive stuff is?

Nothing you could post on TLS would ever hurt you, in my opinion. Sure, assuming they even read these threads, adcoms could have reasonable (and probably correct) suspicion that x poster is actually x candidate in real life, but at the end of the day, it's just a suspicion. JS and crew wouldn't risk dinging a perfectly acceptable candidate because they thought he or she was some shiesty TLS poster.

Maybe if you signed off all of your posts as something like "Miley Cyrus, L12345678," it might be different, but no way does any adcom know who anyone is enough for sure to base any decisions off of it. Hell, if you were crazy enough, you could even pretend to be someone else. I think enough of our friends know enough about our apps/cycles to play one of us convincingly on a forum if they happened to be insane and wanted to ruin our lives for some reason.

I mean, there really are people who they have figured out, through updates (complete today! JS1 today! etc) or just through regular posts ("so I'm a KJD, graduated from Wash U, and I live in Hawaii. I got a 170 and have a 3.92. I worked an internship with the governor of Hawaii, and I've written a book. What are my chances?"). It is also well-known that admissions committees read the forum (let's be honest here, I would too, but only because we are down-right hilarious 8) ).

The most implausible aspect of this scenario is that you would never find out that you were barred or nearly barred from admission because of something you wrote. That kind of information would never come out.

And if it did, it would be a huge scandal, imho, for these elite law schools. That's part of why I would never believe they base any part of admissions decisions on their speculations about who is who in an online forum.
