Lol I think I've written it both ways this past week without thinking. You guys have confused me. Let me search for it. I'm curious how I really type it. Which one is the British one?

I'm pretty sure grey is the British one, but it reminds me too much of a certain book series that I may or may not have sent Cal Trask for the holidays this year.

Just found it. On Thursday I said, without consciously thinking about it:

This is hard just because you never know when something will happen. It's almost like every day is grey day.

I must be British. The Irish and English side of my family will be happy. The German side, not so much.

You really think they would comb through TLS like that? That would be a ton of extra work, and it doesn't seem like it would be that fruitful in most cases.

Apparently there was at least one TLSer who was ID'd by JS this cycle (and that was with fake stats in their profile).

I'm a little worried about this too. When I was signing up for TLS (which I did because I got a JS1) I entered all the profile information you could, including my undergrad institution. Horrible reading comp skills, I know, but I didnt realize that that profile was public information until like a week later

Once I did, I removed what could identify me super quick, but.... if anyone happened to look at my profile during that time they would absolutely know who I am. I don't think I've said anything on the forums that would make anyone angry...... but it still does worry me a bit.

Okay, I'm going to resolve the JSW / JSJk debate once and for all.

Here is the problem with JSJk: It implies that you open your email, and what you think is an acceptance offer is a joke. It implies that being waitlisted by Harvard is the same as Lucy pulling the football out from under your Harvard dreams. "JsJk" seems to indicate that you're done, that your hopes should be dashed and that you should acknowledge that even the consideration of your application was a farce.

JSW is dry, it is neutral, it is boring. And that's why it's perfect. Because it acknowledges that the JSW is just another step in the process towards your (hopeful) acceptance, not the end of the line, and certainly not a joke.

JSW is waiting at a boring stop on your way to Cambridge. JSJk is thinking the stop is the last station.

Do I count as "in the know"? That'd be a first..

I'm not sure, but based on the context I think it stands for "picture whoring," i.e. posting pictures of yourself on the Internet for attention.
