1. Everyone likes to be wanted/praised. Getting accepted is like someone picking you first for their team, it feels good.

2. Pride, not getting in hurts even with great options. Also, last year the best school I got into was Notre Dame and that was off the waitlist. This is a redemption year for me in a lot of ways.

3. Application Triage: Getting into some schools helps me to get a better idea of how well rounded my application is and what my chances are at schools like Stanford and Yale. There were some slight variations throughout my applications and how one school responds could tip me off to how others may respond.

Okay, so basically it's a combination of money matters and validation. And here I thought if I get a JS2 I'd withdraw from everywhere and chill until the fall.

I was never 100% set on HLS though.

If I get HLS I am going to chill until the fall. Because if I get a JS2, I will have squeaked in just barely, meaning my scholarships at those other schools are unlikely to be significant enough to persuade me away from HLS.

If I get HLS I am going to chill until the fall. Because if I get a JS2, I will have squeaked in just barely, meaning my scholarships at those other schools are unlikely to be significant enough to persuade me away from HLS.

You don't know that yet. You might receive a good amount of $$$ from somewhere.

I don't have one. I have a collection of "top choices" and HLS is in that group, but so are two other schools.
