Okay, so basically it's a combination of money matters and validation. And here I thought if I get a JS2 I'd withdraw from everywhere and chill until the fall.

The-Specs wrote: For me it is three fold:

1. Everyone likes to be wanted/praised. Getting accepted is like someone picking you first for their team, it feels good.

2. Pride, not getting in hurts even with great options. Also, last year the best school I got into was Notre Dame and that was off the waitlist. This is a redemption year for me in a lot of ways.

3. Application Triage: Getting into some schools helps me to get a better idea of how well rounded my application is and what my chances are at schools like Stanford and Yale. There were some slight variations throughout my applications and how one school responds could tip me off to how others may respond.

Great question. HTH :)
Ah, that makes sense. I would have asked in the C/O 2017 page but I didn't want to invade that space hehe.

If I get HLS I am going to chill until the fall. Because if I get a JS2, I will have squeaked in just barely, meaning my scholarships at those other schools are unlikely to be significant enough to persuade me away from HLS.

I was never 100% set on HLS though.

Yeah, I don't think I am going to be offered almost anything in terms of merit scholarships from other schools. The need-based grants at HYS, I think, will be much more generous.

You don't know that yet. You might receive a good amount of $$$ from somewhere.

Unfortunately, even though my parents won't be assisting with law school, their income prevents me from being eligible for any grants. So, at HYS, I would be financing my education with loans.

Maybe, but based on my goals I really need CCN or higher, and they're not going to be giving me tons of money.

I don't have one. I have a collection of "top choices" and HLS is in that group, but so are two other schools.

So, question: in past years, have there been JS2s on the same day as JSNos? Or is today just a Bad News Friday?

I'm disappointed though because I know I'm not getting anything from them or anywhere else.
That's why I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some merit-based aid from somewhere.

There are schools that don't take parental income into account for any students (NU, for instance).
