Waitlist 3.7x 175+ interview in January. So it is not possible to defer an offer off of the waitlist, should it come?

Do we think the WL emails are going to come out hourly-ish? Since there appear to have already been 2 batches?
I know it's going to trickle, I just wonder whether I'm going to be tense for each hour on the hour.

it does seem that way, and that's how it went in the c/o 2016 thread...jasper09 wrote:Do we think the WL emails are going to come out hourly-ish? Since there appear to have already been 2 batches?

Its very likely just the way their email server is configured, my guess is that the first round of waitlist is already constructed and being sent out automatically.potterdam wrote:Why would they do that? Re: Harvard, C/O 2017, Applicants Thread (2013-2014)
I envision them sitting at a table, with piles of applications, making final decisions, then handing them over in batches to someone to input into the system and send the emails. Like a well-oiled machine, almost. Of course, no basis for this, but that's what comes to mind when I try to figure out how things are going. Or, their servers/email systems can only handle so many at one time so they have to set it up that way in advance. Which is probably more likely.potterdam wrote:Why would they do that? Re: Harvard, C/O 2017, Applicants Thread (2013-2014)
for people with late JS1s, (Feb/March) are we thinking it's more likely to get WL'd or dinged? With the amount of people without JS1s getting wait listed, it makes me feel like a ding is more likely (out of the two, negative thinking options). Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
