I heard through a little bird that he didn't feel anything in particular went horribly wrong. He thought he gave substantive responses, no pauses, slip-ups, etc.

It could also be that there was some egregious C+F issue. How obnoxious does a 180 need to be during an interview to get dinged?

ETA: OhPo you can't really make out over Skype b/c makeup, lighting, etc.

perhaps there was something else of concern in the app that the interview didn't clear up.

although we are not always good measures of our own performance.

Yeah, that's what makes me lean toward thinking it's an interview issue, not a C&F/LOR/PS/etc issue.
