I think we're reading into these letters way too much. If you've got good numbers, as you do t14orbust, then there's no reason they'd send to you for nefarious reasons. Maybe it has to do with the drop in applicants, maybe it's just procedural to get the word out a bit so they have a bigger pool to work with, who knows. 1 year from now we can discuss this in depth and with out all the stress at some restaurant in Cambridge.

So do you think we should call the email a JSP(pre)?

Anyone else get a JSP? Someone should add a column on the google doc roster.

HLS probably blanket emailed anyone who's worthy in T14 schools (and maybe beyond). There's no reason to think they only emailed qualified applicants. Especially because most people haven't taken their LSATs yet... Emails are free, applications make money.

lol no, but my WE/softs are so weak in comparison to MBB that if you put average in that box I would feel pretty shitty about myself.

Finished the intro paragraph of my first draft PS today Finally making some progress lol

Congrats! How much work did you guys put in on these parts of your app before you were done with the LSAT? I want to get all of my other stuff ready by the time my score comes back in Oct, but don't want to short change the LSAT.

Another HLS 0L popping in and happy to answer anything (at least for the next two weeks).

I nailed down my recommendations the day I got back to school (I'm a K-JD), but other than that, I didn't even think about the rest of the application until I finished my LSAT retake in October.
I started writing my PS the day after the LSAT. It went through six or seven revisions and was essentially done by the time scores came out. I poked at it a few times, had a bunch of people read it, and was confident enough to submit it right before Thanksgiving. I was admitted just under a month later.

Happy to pass on a copy of my PS – if anyone wants it, PM me. I make no promises about how good it is, but it did get me in.

This is what I was thinking as well. Figure that it is smart to approach my recommenders ASAP since I don't want to be chasing them down last minute.

I already have a rough outline for what I what to write about so it is probably best to just wait until after the LSAT and then work like crazy on the essays.

At the HLS event in NYC last week, JS referenced this event (I believe it had taken place the night before?) and said that it would be broadcast on Kaplan's website at some point in the near future. Also, I don't believe this was just a random email. I am thinking they are targeting applicants based on profile/stats and on the students interest as reported on the lsac. (List of schools or region selected etc...)

Student profiles include many other variables and softs such as GPA, languages spoken, Study abroad, Graduate degree, years out of school, racial background etc... Believe me, this was not random.
