my thoughts exactly.tlsapp2017 wrote:I feel like it is a pretty bad place to be if you're not 100% set on Harvard, though.... This is correct.tlsapp2017 wrote:I'm pretty sure there were multiple WL waves last year, although if it's true that all decisions will be rendered by April 1 then that might not be the case this year....sandclock wrote:if you aren't put on the wl tomorrow, does that mean you will probably get a js2?
or do some of those people often get dinged after the wl wave and js2 wave..?
Ultimately, if that scenario occurs, I wouldn't read too much into it; there's really no way of predicting what Harvard's going to decide to do
Last cycle there was a huge WL wave on the 5th, a few WLs on the 8th and 9th, then just very small scattering here and there after that. If you don't get wait listed tomorrow you can't be sure of admission.

I'm pretty sure you can never be sure of admission, lol (unless you get that magical phone call, of course )drawstring wrote:This is correct.tlsapp2017 wrote:I'm pretty sure there were multiple WL waves last year, although if it's true that all decisions will be rendered by April 1 then that might not be the case this year....sandclock wrote:if you aren't put on the wl tomorrow, does that mean you will probably get a js2?

You're right
I should have said that you shouldn't assume that you will probably be admitted

That makes sense. I just have a very strong fear of committing to attend a school that I haven't actually been to in person; what if I show up and for some reason hate it?drawstring wrote:Good point. I speak as someone who has Harvard at the top of their list by a fair bit, so my perceptive will be different.
I probably put waay too much stock in the importance of ASDs

Re: Harvard, C/O 2017, Applicants Thread (2013-2014)
I'm don't think much of ASWs.
Most of what I need to make a decision is available without attending schools, and I don't want to persuaded by effective marketing that masks what things will really be like or doesn't have much bearing on the factors that I'm considering when trying to decide where to attend. I feel like people go to ASWs, have a great time at a pub or someplace similar, and make decisions based on where they had the best time, rather than how the law school fits their goals.

Re: Harvard, C/O 2017, Applicants Thread (2013-2014)
That seems mostly fair; I guess it depends on what you do at ASWs, and what you're specifically looking for. I do think, though, that if you walk around the law school and talk to 50 or so random students, you can get some sort of sense of whether people are generally happy at a school. Also, there's no way to fake facilities and location. I guess it's not really ASWs that are so crucial to me, but rather visiting while school is in session, which becomes difficult if you get in off of the waitlist.drawstring wrote:I'm don't think much of ASWs.

Today will be a better day. JS2's or waitlist rollout today. Based on past years, likely few or no dings today.

I'm going to be on the edge of my seat all day, and tense every time I check my email because I'm expecting a WL at this point :/ I also had a dream last night that JS CALLED me to REJECT me- woke up very agitated.
Good luck to everyone today.

I have an all-day thing for work, so I won't have to worry about obsessively checking this thread on the day I'm likely to be WL. Then I can get out at 6pm and see the WL email and drink my disappointment away.

Anybody know if waitlists come out in a big avalanche? Or will it be a trickle like the dings?
