Potentially stupid question: I'm K-JD. What do people mean when they say things like the bolded above? It felt like a pretty normal interview to me.drawstring wrote:Not really a K-JD then!
I took a year off after HS to work full time, but I got the K-JD treatment in my interview. I'm hoping it isn't too much of a detriment.

The only difference between me and a true K-JD is I had time to get some full-time employment onto my application. Not a lot of time, but there's at least one 40 hr office job on there.scoobers wrote:i count a 1 year thing (especially because it can be "i needed to wait a cycle") as pretty KJD.CyanIdes Of March wrote:Pretty much. 1 year interim break between law school and ug.scoobers wrote:r u kjd or close to it?CyanIdes Of March wrote: I thought you found me already lol. By that I mean there was a heavy focus on the fact that I was still in school and didn't have prolonged WE following graduation like non K-JDs. I don't mean to suggest that the interviewer was being negative about my application, but I got the sense (and had expected) that me being a K-JD was a major issue they wanted to get at.Instinctive wrote:Potentially stupid question: I'm K-JD. This is how I felt about mine. K-JD seemed to be the only issue she cared about. At least 3/4ths of the interview seemed to relate to that.drawstring wrote:By that I mean there was a heavy focus on the fact that I was still in school and didn't have prolonged WE following graduation like non K-JDs. She will probably say something along the lines of "I see that you don't have any work experience in the legal field, would you consider taking time off to immerse yourself in the field?" (thats what she said to me) Other people have had the direct question "Have you considered taking time off?"
Either way you could say something like you've considered doing so, but ultimately feel that your undergrad(and whatever work experience or life experience) has prepared you for the rigor of law school.
Tailor it to your own situation but for me I admitted that taking a year off would mean working my summer-job again but full time to save up money rather than taking an internship in the legal profession. I said I felt prepared and mature enough to go straight into law school.

On LSN, someone had a 12/18 JS1 and 12/21 JS2. Pretty spectacular numbers though.jingosaur wrote:What do you guys think is the latest JS1 that could still yield a JS2 before the end of the year?

Thinking back on my interview I think she asked me something similar to hopefuls quote. My answer was something along the lines of knowing what I wanted to do in my steer and was ready to get started working directly toward that goal.

I am pretty worried about the kjd questions just because i look so young. i'm right within the kjd age (actually on the older side, i was born in 91) but i still expect 99% of the interview to be about it.
of course i say all this having not gone complete yet

My JS1 is next week and I would appreciate any advice via PM from anyone who has already had theirs. I'll have 3 years of strong professional experience at matriculation so any info from people with a similar post-UG experience would be much appreciated.
Unfortunately, I don't have ProudPapa's numbers, but I'm hoping to hear back before year's end. There seems to be some sort of correlation between awesome numbers and a quicker application turnaround, but it's definitely now how the process works.HorseThief wrote:On LSN, someone had a 12/18 JS1 and 12/21 JS2. Re: Harvard, C/O 2017, Applicants Thread (2013-2014)
There are enough people with awesome numbers who have had a slow application turnaround and people with lower numbers (for a JS2) who have had a very quick application turnaround for me to believe that how fast you find out isn't determined by how good the applicant's numbers are.midwest17 wrote:Can you clarify the bolded?jingosaur wrote:Unfortunately, I don't have ProudPapa's numbers, but I'm hoping to hear back before year's end. Weird, my interviewer focused on how I viewed successful (we spent 5 minutes talking about it) and nothing major about my resume was touched on even though I am in the same K-JD boat without any significant employment, just mostly clubs and volunteering. Still I don't think it matters too much.drawstring wrote:By that I mean there was a heavy focus on the fact that I was still in school and didn't have prolonged WE following graduation like non K-JDs. I got nothing about my view of success.
It could just be down to different interviewers.
