They also say they'll give out more $$ after the initial offering too.

Probably merit-based or maybe extra need aid after they have a better idea of the entering class. I don't know what people who got the 13k a year make or what their families are willing to contribute but my financial need is very extreme. I also think some people won't get any money at all. I wonder if you just don't hear from them regarding $ or if they say sorry, you get no money but I still want you to attend at full price. Haha!Moonlight wrote:They also say they'll give out more $$ after the initial offering too.

I find it amusing that the Hastings tower has a Penthouse ($3,270- $3,710) option for their dorms: http://www.uchastings.edu/student-life/ ... /index.php

Joining in on the 13K group... It only took about 5 days after I submitted the Need Access for them to get back to me.

Probably LEOP slowing your app down.
Slowed mine way down, though I got the fin aid info back quick after acceptance. EFC 0.

You have an EFC of 0? Dang that's low.Dingo Starr wrote:Probably LEOP slowing your app down.

If they gave out anything below 0, I would have it.Moonlight wrote: You have an EFC of 0? Dang that's low.

13k/year here as well. Found that and the notification that they had received my need access form in my spam folder this morning. I got the notification of receipt after I got scholly info. Does that mean the 13k/year is merit, and not need based aid?

Re: UC Hastings c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
At this point, we have no idea. The wording for the offer is rather vague, indicating it's some combination of the two, but there have also been discussions of further money coming in the future. So... yeah.BlackCanary wrote:13k/year here as well. Found that and the notification that they had received my need access form in my spam folder this morning. Re: UC Hastings c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
I sent an email on Monday but they never got back to me so I called the admissions office today. The guy was really great and told me they had sent an email to me on 2/18 regarding scholly info. I told him I never received it and he told me they would get it resent today. If you still haven't heard anything I would call. I check my spam folder religiously ever since this cycle started and the email wasn't there either.mac35352 wrote:Congrats on the $AndiDail wrote:Joining in on the 13K group... 1) It's been about a month since receipt of my "app complete" email and no updates since. Should I give them a call? Having no status checker, this process for UCH is pretty annoying.
2) I wasn't quite sure what the LEOP was during the application process, but from my extremely limited knowledge on the subject, I think I should have signed up for it. Is it possible to sign up after admittance?

For LEOP there was a separate statement you had to submit. See: http://www.uchastings.edu/admissions/jd ... /index.php
I can't say with certainty it is too late to apply but it would seem like it is.
This academic support program, which begins with a week-long orientation prior to the beginning of school and spans a student's entire stay at UC Hastings, includes the following:
Small, weekly study group sessions: The goal of these sessions is to develop students' independent learning strategies using a skills-based approach.
Saturday Practice Exams: Each semester LEOP students are offered simulated exam workshops, during which they write four practice exams and receive written evaluations of their knowledge and exam-taking techniques.
Academic Workshops: LEOP offers individual tutoring, academic counseling, and workshops on outlining, examination strategies, legal writing, and legal analysis.
Programs for Second and Third-Year LEOP Students: Small group sessions are conducted in some second-year courses. Each session uses problem solving as the means for reviewing substantive law and legal analysis.
A Supplemental bar review course: For its graduating students, LEOP offers a supplemental bar review course, Bar None. The program emphasizes study techniques and exam-taking skills and practice, and provides constructive feedback.

Has anyone received anything other than the $13k scholly?
All Hastings scholarships have a need based component. The $13k is the grant that we refer to on TLS. Almost everyone going gets it I think. It's different than the other scholarships.

I also received the 13k per year. I'm wondering whether my financial aid need will allow them to revise that figure.

I think that the 13K stays same for all of us but we may get awarded additional scholarships based on merit and need. That's what is supposed to come out in the upcoming weeks I think.calmenda wrote:I also received the 13k per year. I'm wondering whether my financial aid need will allow them to revise that figure.
