Dear Wustl,

State School A would be free and the people who just graduated with full rides all have awesome jobs, which is the relevant sample from my perspective. School B, which has similar employment outcomes to Wustl, would also be a great choice, and they gave me more money than you. School C didn't give me any money, but their employment outcomes kick ass, and would make more sense at this point from a cost/benefit analysis. That being said, I would still prefer to attend Wustl if it made sense financially. Is there anything you can do to help me make the decision to attend Wustl make sense financially? I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Broke-Ass Admitted Student

ETA: I'm not actually writing to admissions here, this is just a suggestion for how to approach the process. I'm already here.

I was shocked and a little put off by how low the offer was. It's half what UCLA offered me. Honestly, I was shocked. They're not even an option any more. It's not even worth it to me to try to negotiate it.

It might be worth it to lead with that. How long could it take to write a WTF email to admissions?

The scholly email is separate from the "Congrats you got in" email right?

What time did all your scholly emails come through?? I was admitted around the same time as most of you guys and I'm wondering if they sent them all out at the same time or if someone is sending the emails one by one (read: I am panicking like hell and have convinced myself that no email = no $$$)

I also got the scholarship info via email. They were very generous to me - they have money to give, I'm sure the numbers will go up through the cycle guys.

Don't be surprised if
You don't get an offer. I almost wish I hadn't with how terrible the
Offers are.

Don't trip man. I was admitted earlier than pretty much everyone, and I just got my email today. Honestly, be happy you weren't in this wave. We were all low balled for what appears to be YP reasons.

Just checked my e-mails from last cycle. It was about 3 weeks between my acceptance letter and initial scholarship offer. (mid February and early March) On June 12th I got my final scholarship. It takes a while.

If they've already admitted us, how does offering a low scholarship help for "YP reasons?" Wouldn't that hurt them? I mean, they just basically guaranteed that a big chunk of accepted students won't matriculate.

I'm not sure it was YP. I'm at one median and above another, right where it would make sense for me to attend with the right offer. I was in contact with the school asking about different programs and such, and WUSTL was in my top 2 or 3 before the offer came in.

Don't think it's yp. But I don't know what it is. I was seriously excited for the possibility of WUSTL. Not giving up yet, but this makes it a lot less likely.

I don't have a whole lot of experience in LS applications beyond personally applying this cycle, but my numbers are right at WUSTL's medians and I got an offer that's pretty much in line with what people here are reporting. Doesn't make sense as a YP to me.

I don't know why I said YP, as I'm already in. If anything the low ball offers would hurt yield, I'd think. All I know is that they're playing some admission game, im on the wrong side of it, and it doesn't feel good.

This all sounds like a plan premised on the idea that it leaves them room to negotiate and students can feel like they've won, like some sort of car dealership bullshit. Except it sounds like they've overdone it and pissed everyone off.

Our initial offers were a lot better. (I think, I don't know everyone's stats here.) Again, I think this may be due to people catching on with regard to scholarship negotiation, so they might be changing their starting position in anticipation of that. It sounds like they're overshooting though.

That's pretty TTT man. I mean, why mess with what was good? WUSTL is so popular on this forum because they tend to make it rain. Just compare the activity from this thread to that of cheap ass NDLS's.
