For those who interviewed, what questions were asked?

Why law?
Why WUSTL?
Have you been to St. Louis?
Transactional or litigation?
Be prepared to talk about the subject of your personal statement and anything on your resume.

In my interview she phrased what I thought was a "Why WUSTL" question a bit different and said (roughly): "What factors did you look for when deciding on which law schools to apply to?" I wasn't quite sure what to say so I just spoke generally about what the important factors in a law school were for me. I did not address anything specifically about WUSTL (despite having a couple of points prepared) b/c I don't like going beyond what the question is. Was this a rookie mistake? Should I have gone why WUSTL?

Anyways I was worried at the end when she seemed in a rush to get off the phone (interview was barely ten minutes) but she said I had a strong app and mentioned a couple particular things about it that made me happy, and said she was recommending me for admission. So I guess it was an overall win.

Also, for anyone keeping track of questions here are three she asked me that I don't think have been mentioned: 1) What kind of town I grew up in, 2) how big was my high school, and 3) how/why I picked my UG institution.

I only got Why Law? and Why WUSTL?

Besides that we pretty much talked about my desire to be in the midwest and the reason I was in St Louis a couple times in my life. TRYING not to out myself, but my interviewer's husband and I share a common interest, so that was my time.

It was less than 25 minutes.

I found this from the 2016 applicants thread, seems to coincide with the questions everyone is being asked:

- If you are a splitter, be prepared to address the lower number.
- Why law school? Why WUSTL?
- Why did you choose your undergraduate institution?
- Why did you choose that major?
- Be prepared to discuss your personal statement and resume.
- Have you ever been to St. Louis?
- Have you ever lived outside of <your hometown>?
- How do you feel your second BA/master/professional degree compliments your first?
- What area of law interests you?
The interview will close with the option for you to ask questions. Please be prepared to ask thoughtful and applicable questions. Many interviewees had questions concerning WUSTL's clinical programs, employment opportunities, and study aboard or summer programs. There is a wealth of information out there, so do your research!

Oh yeah, well my answer to "why law school" also covered "what area of law" and "why the area is attractive." That could easily explain why it is the only question I was asked. But no questions regarding my splitter-ness

Wow, I just found an email from WUSTL about scheduling an interview in my SPAM inbox that shows it was sent 6 days ago! I know I'm probably overreacting, but what kind of effect do you think it will have overall? If at all? Btw I did schedule the interview.

I got mine on the 2nd, scheduled an interview like 5 days later. I don't think it is a big deal.

I'm pretty sure I let at least a month lapse in between the interview invite and the actual interview, due to holiday stuff and general laziness. Thought she might bring it up during but it wasn't even mentioned.

If they do bring it up, you just say it was in your spam folder. Not a big deal.

Also, did you interviewees have any status checker changes pre-interview or post-interview before hearing your decision?

I didn't because the acceptance e-mail came a couple hours after the interview but others in this thread said they changed to something like "interview completed" between the interview and the decision.

I believe it is part of the elaborate hazing ritual that law is.

ETA: But some of the emails come with instructions to acquire free beer. Those are always welcome.

Thank God we're ungrounded and can have beer at school again.

I was going to ask about that. When did they start allowing alcohol again? Are there any new restrictions after that sweet-ass party?

lol i'm on SBA, the alcohol-ban after the halloween party was really just a nominal punishment. By that point in the fall semester no one really drinks anyway cuz it's finals season. It was just a slap on the wrist, our alcohol privileges are reinstated with the caveat that we're more careful, which we honestly should have been in the first place. It was a miracle that were no serious injuries at that part given how much of DAT NEGLIGENCE there was.
