^Yeah at first I thought it had something to do w/ name, as in como te llamas, but apparently llama = "flame" and en llamas = "burning", used here to sub for Catching Fire .
Who knew
ETA: and apparently they're using "Sinsajo" to sub for Mockingjay for the 3rd book/movie(s). Not sure if that's a real Spanish word or not lol

Can we all be gunners? Then no one will be able to complain about anyone else.

Eh you'll learn to appreciate the gunners. They provide comedic relief from the drudgery. They add flavor lol

I remember at ASW I stepped out of one of the meetings and a bunch of the current students helping were outside and talking about the gunners and part of it seemed disdainful yet oddly appreciative.

Even if we all heeded this reasonable request, we will have many classmates who do not read TLS, and will be unaware of this No Gunners Pact you propose.

There ya go, make lemons into lemonade. Is it socially acceptable to laugh at them in class, or do we have to keep quiet and laugh later?

Re: WUSTL c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 Cycle)
Re-posting here for future 0L's to find. Apologies in advance to all Missouri natives. But not.
Here are all the grievances I have about attending WUSTL. Keep in mind I am an asshole from the Northeast that values schadenfreude above all other emotions. These are presented in no particular order
1. Branding. Not a lot of wow-factor when you drop the W-bomb. If only our founders had named us after some other rich white dude. Too many schools named after Washington.
2. You’re a smart school in a relatively stupid region. Missouri is not known for its intellectual drive. Makes it annoying to use Tinder.
3. Hard to get friends to visit. No one in the history of ever has said “I have 2 weeks of vacation time let’s go see the Arch.” I gotta go to NYC/Boston/Chicago all the time to visit old friends
4. Firms. They’re not fighting tooth and nail to recruit us. Hurts the ego. Makes no real difference since we meet them via mass mail or off-campus days anyway. But there have been plenty of times where I’ve said “Fuck this I’m transferring to XYZ” as I write cover letters. But that’s just me throwing a tantrum.
5. The people here aren’t superficial and judgmental. This is probably a pro, but it’s a con to me because I’m used to people being superficial and judgmental and it bothers me when they’re not.
6. There are some fucking rednecks here. But they’re in the minority.
7. My class has a bunch of Vanderbilt kids that won’t shut up about Vanderbilt. I loved Vanderbilt until I came here. I hate it now out of spite. My newsfeed had more statuses about Vandy winning the College World Series than it did about USA v. Germany.
8. Most of the kids here took the ACT instead of the SAT…which is per se TTT
9. Tornado warnings.
10. I’m shorter than everyone here because these Midwestern fucks drank too much milk and I’m Asian and am partly lactose I think.
11. Because we give out a lot of scholarship, there are always tons of kids that NEED to let everyone know that they could have gone to some lower T14 but CHOSE to come here instead.
12. There are kids who didn’t have T14 options, but feel compelled to lie that they did because of the kids in #11.
In all seriousness #1 and #4 are the only material cons you’ll face by coming here.
But it starts to feel less shitty once all the “Below median at T14, paid sticker. HELP!” or “How the fuck do you pay off sticker?” threads start popping up.

well take heart, there are at least some self-proclaimed a holes in the MidBest.
(looking at you RB)
You may struggle as cuse did to adjust but if you look hard enough you'll find plenty of judgemental/superficial folks. It's much more secretive though. It's possible cuse hasn't had a long enough tenure in the region to break into the circle of jerks

I'm from Canada and feel the same way as well. Maybe it's because I'm in the small little English hub in the middle of French Canada. We tend to think of ourselves as superior

I think there may be something wrong with me. I simply cannot listen to someone say the same thing over and over while slightly rearranging the words in the sentence.

An admirable sentiment. But unless this doesnt apply to the written word, I fear for your acclamation to legal profession
