Is this even a thing? Who buttons shirts from the bottom? I can understand toilet paper arguments. Hell, I can even see the merits of milk-first cereal eating, but shirts are bottom-up, pal.

1. You can look up things like housing and junk on your own. The questions that only 2Ls/3Ls can answer are questions regarding professors and their finals. I imagine you'll think of these questions on your own once section/faculty assignments are released

2. I honestly don't really enjoy watching baseball, i think it's boring. But it's probably because I never played and therefore don't appreciate the game as much.

3. No i didn't bother running for SBA re-election. Partly because I didn't want to have an awkward "nvm just kidding someone else can do it" convo if i transferred and partly because 2Ls--unlike 1L reps--are actually expected to take up leadership roles and get involved. Was pretty burnt out towards the end of 1L and didn't feel like committing to more extracurricular work

Did you apply to Syracuse Law?

Do you prefer waffles or pancakes? (quality and other factors equal)

Are you a superstitious person, and has that come up in law skool?

K,F,M: Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton ?

1. LOL no
2. Waffles. Pancakes get mushy too quickly and it's fun to watch the syrup fill up the individual waffle cells
3. I'm not superstitious. I don't think i've ever heard it come up in law school. Closest thing is the theory that "Kids who claim to have CALI'd a class immediately after their final almost always end up bombing it"

K: Hillary. F: Michelle. M: Laura

Ah, we agree on that KFM. Nice brah.

Laura is a sweet heart, Michelle is sexiest, Hillary clearly leaves something to be desired if Bill was running around on her lol

And agreed, all else equal, waffles are a superior form.

Louis CK is the man

What's your LS wardrobe/stlye like? And how does the general student body dress? (if a standard exists)

Are you rocking a suit or biz cazz at this summer gig?

Do professors know you're a WUSTL megapoaster too like the adcomms? Do you think they lurk TLS and laugh at your suffering?

What do you plan on doing for a graduation or bar trip?

1. my wardrobe is primarily (a) banana republic (b) brooks brothers (c) shit i got for free from sororities during their philanthropies. I actually never noticed a "standard." Most people seem to dress decently during class-hours. No one shows up in PJ's or sweats or anything. That changes once class is over and people show up in the evening to study and stuff. That said, I don't think anyone would really judge you based on what you wore unless it was really inappropriate (e.g. T-shirts with curses on it..or super sexual shit)

2. I wear a suit. Mostly because it makes me feel more important than i am

3. Umm.. some of the professors here know about TLS. They probably don't know which students post. That said, i went to dinner with my torts prof (with some classmates) and he said he heard that I "blogged" a lot. Dunno if he was referring to TLS or not. But he's much more involved/interested in students than most of the faculty.

4. depends entirely on whether i get an SA/full-time offer or not. If i do, then I imagine i'll do some kind of bar trip, not too extravagant. Unless my job is in NYC...then i'm planning to save every penny I can to prepare for dat COL.

Smart. NYCprobs.

Has this "AMA" gone as you had planned?

Has it become more of a one-on-one interview in your view?

Are boat shoes an avoidable men's wear item in the modern era?

What's your go-to cologne for the ladies?

Did you date at all during 1L?

Do your non-law friends understand the risks of law school or just think you're going to be rich guaranteed?

1. I had no plans for this AMA. Only intense boredom. All is as God wills it

2. At times, but that's okay

3. I think boat shoes are fucking useless. But I own a pair. I wear them literally because i'm too lazy to put on socks and bend down and put normal shoes on. Better off expanding your collection of loafers/dress shoes and sneakers than spending money on Sperry's.

4. Tide laundry detergent. I don't wear cologne because i'm lazy and it makes my head hurt. My roommate has a nice kind though, think it's Armani Code

5. I had an SO before school, during 1L, and that i'm still dating now

6. To preface this, most of my non-law school friends are imbeciles. They're in one of several camps:
"omg your life will be just like Suits"
"You should have gone to Piece-of-Shit-TTT because my friend's dad's co-worker's uncle said it's the best school in the state"
"You should work at Ambulance Chasers Inc. because my friend's dad works there, want to see if I can get you an interview?"
"I can't wait to invite you to my wedding so you can buy me a baller gift with all your lawyer money"
"When I become (insert Pipe Dream), you're gonna be my lawyer for free right?"

1. Bar Louie and iTap, because u can just chill.

2. Not Schlafly. Whisky and rum for liquor. Hate tequila.

3. Every time we go to Casino Queen. There was a brief moment when we were gonna go to a thanksgiving buffet at a strip club at like 10pm, but didn't end up happening

good question

1. There's a LOT of luck involved as far as 1L performance. Sometimes your section will be stacked with super stars. Sometimes your prof will grade to the lowest permitted mean while the others grade to the highest. Sometimes your prof will have a really flat curve. Something might spring up in your personal life that distracts you. 1L is about playing the hand that you're dealt. This is where most people trip up. Everyone comes in thinking "I'm going to work super hard and dominate" but most people freeze when they're thrown a curve ball and things don't go expecting to plan. Stay the course and figure out how to navigate.

2. There's not that much money to be made as a lawyer. Not for most of us anyway. Lawyer money is hilariously low compared to banker money..or consulting money...or owning-your-own-business money, especially when you adjust for how many hours you work. If you're doing this for the money then you're in for serious disappointment

3. If you're really passionate about justice or changing something or advocating for fairness etc.., then dominate your exams, get top grades, and give yourself maximum opportunity to achieve those things. Don't get hung up in 1L Con Law because your prof suggests that affirmative action might be unconstitutional or something. No one cares about what the indignant 1L thinks is just or fair. They might care when you're an excellent lawyer.

4. Networking actually matters

5. Everyone sucks in the beginning. Give yourself time to improve

6. All those "Read this to ace law school before you even start" books/supplements are unnecessary. Including Getting to Maybe and LEEWS.

7. Being impressive and prestigious is gratifying for about 4 seconds per person-you-try-to-impress.
