Is interview necessary for admission?

For you, definitely. If you don't interview they will probably YP you.

My advice would be to relax. Do a little reseach about what programs or externships or areas of practice interest you so you will have some talking points. The questions are very generic (i.e. why law, why WASHU, what area of law interests you, where do you want to practice). It will only last 10-15 minutes most likely. Obviously probably have a couple questions ready to ask them.

I would do phone just so there is no chance of connection issues or anything like that on Skype (this is just my thinking).

I was nervous too but try to relax. If you got the interview request, it means they are seriously considering admitting you regardless of your numbers. Spend a little time thinking about answers for the questions I listed, be sure to convey to them how great you think WASHU is, and you will be fine. Good luck!

Has anyone here interviewed and not been admitted? Just wondering if it is a YP measure that they implement.

I'll remain composed for sure. I spent all night pretty much reading every bit of the WUSTL website and watching all their Youtube videos so I think I have a pretty good understanding of the school. And my background with working at the Public Defender's Office and being on my school's mock trial team will probably give me plenty of stories. Everyone's comments are really reassuring. I'll just show how much I want to go and that I take WashU and the practice of law very seriously.

Quick question-- have any of you actually requested interviews? Are they all by invite?

I went compete a few days ago, and I'm debating whether I should reach out to Admissions.

ArundelSt, they haven't sent out a wave of scholarship info in a month or two. I was accepted five weeks ago and all that I have received in the mail was a hard copy of the acceptance email. I heard that they will send out another wave or scholarships later this month or next...

My discussion with an admissions official strongly indicated early-mid February before the second round of scholarship info.

No, not last year at least. I applied in Feb and was in in a week or so, no interview, but if you may be a yp risk, I would, even though yp doesn't seem to be prominent here

It's different this year. I think the applicants are required to interview (not sure, maybe it's only if they're offered one)

Good luck to all those that had/have interviews this week/today. I'd expect our decisions 5:00pm CEntral if history is an indicator.
