Does anyone know how long people get leases for? Do most students do 9 months, move out, do their summer thing, then move back in? I don't plan on doing internships, etc. in St. Louis so I'm not sure if I should plan on just keeping my apartment or moving back in each year.

You can always just sublease.

This is very important, because sometimes someone is just wearing a weird outfit or has a bad haircut, which makes it harder to tell.

In. Has anyone else had any luck negotiating their scholarships up? I haven't tried yet, assuming it's better to wait.

The new NLJ 250 numbers are out, but you need a subscription to see it. Above the Law provides a summary for those that are interested.

Here's the google spreadsheet that was posted in the "WUSTL grads taking questions" thread
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuBp6KfM9kKgdG1tdjZ2aXRoNHloZ1BTR1N1RlhIZUE&usp=sharing#gid=0

Our class size was 300 for this data set, the 2L class has 50-70 less students and the 1L class only has 187 or something. So our placement percentage will change as our class sizes decrease.

For the unfamiliar, this is an incomplete snapshot of how many grads each school sends to the biggest 250 law firms in the country. I say incomplete because there are firms that do not report, so that impacts schools up and down this list.

Keep in mind that the firms included in this list are determined by attorney headcount, there are smaller firms that grads go to that are not included in the NLJ 250.

Obligatory excuse/defense for WUSTL's numbers: Our class size was 300 for this data set, the 2L class has 50-70 less students and the 1L class only has 187 or something. So our placement percentage will change as our class sizes decrease.

Plus "biglaw" numbers are higher than NLJ250.

Would you say the number of grads getting biglaw will stay more or less the same?

I think we should have a WUStL combine, similar to the NFLs, in order to determine scholarships.

The number will most likely stay close to the same, but the percentage will rise because of the smaller class sizes.

I have a feeling firms will keep hiring the same number of Wash U grads, but now there are just fewer to pick from.

Wait. Is that a bad thing?

Thanks Cuse. At least it's a small improvement. Here's hoping things improve with the class size cuts too!

Haven't heard any success stories yet. But we are approaching the negotiating sweet spot, IMO. Especially if you're going to March ASW, you can make a more convincingly sincere request for $$$ assistance shortly after visiting.

Yeah there are some 10 month places or whatever, but are probably a bit overpriced. Some people just eat the 2 months away, others try to sublease. It's a trade off and kind of a lose/lose situation, but you just gotta see what's best for you.

I'll add that STL housing compared to most LS places is dirt cheap, so this is at least less of a big deal at WUSTL than at some places.
