A TLS heavy section would just lead to hard feelings and what not. The opposite of my chill Midwestern ideal section. Wouldn't be surprised if it happened though.

I asked this question in the WUSTL Recent grad forum a while back. Received these responses:
nachosrgood wrote:An admin told me last Fall that they give each person a score based off of the LSAT + undergrad GPA. Then they balance/average out the different sections.
sublime wrote:they attempt to equalize it as much as possible, iirc.

que?
^Answering to the proposal of a sequestered TLS section being good. I think inevitably a TLS heavy section would cause drama because we'd be graded on a curve obviously and since we're generally less ignorant of the job market compared to non TLSers there would be even more bitching about grades. I know I'll be pissed if I'm below median, which is 50% likely give or take, and I'd prefer to be able to vent here about my section as kind of a separate entity, rather then have a bunch of TLS people to be jealous of. That's no bueno.

sections are supposedly created by balancing junk like LSAT, GPA, geography, male/female etc...

I'm not sure how much i believe that given that the only other Asian male from Syracuse University ended up in my subsection. Also because there was clearly a super star section and a...not-so-super-star section. But that's just my conspiracy theory, it was probably just coincidence

Has anyone sent in a photo for our IDs? I want to know if we're supposed to use specific specifications or not.

When do we get a login key/email address and all that? When I get an email address, then it will be real.

Has anyone tried negotiating schollies during a campus visit? If so, who did you talk to and were you successful?

Email is the way to go. In person is destined to be awkward. That being said, visiting campus sets up nicely for a more convincing "oh I just love WUSTL and really want to go here, but the my current financial situation is worrisome" email. Send one shortly after visiting if you do.

Yeah that's what I kind of thought too... I just have no leverage at this point and I'm choosing between attending or reapplying, so IDK if there's even a point in trying.

You have to remember that schools also have the least leverage at this point. All their candidates are gone minus the ones that have committed. So their only option is to dip into the waitlist if their deposited candidates drop out completely. You should still try to negotiate, worst that can happen is that they say no

Definitely give it a shot. Just being straight with them about your situation can't hurt - it's not petty or annoying to the admissions office like some applicants worry about initially. They're a super nice group and always willing to hear you out. A polite, concise inquiry is very much worth trying, even with the low chance of them taking you up on a scholly negotiation this late. Just don't be afraid to actually retake/reapply if the money isn't there.

Yeah it'd be hard to get motivated to get stuff done Thursday night or Friday with that schedule.

I'm pretty sure everyone thought they were in the "super-star" section. And absolutely no one thinks they were in the weakest section.

In your opinion, which was the super star and the not super star section, and why?
