You are just toying with our feelings when you double deposit. Are they staying? Are the going? We just don't know! And uncertainty is emotionally painful.gta wrote:What about double depositing? Where do I count?meb1212 wrote:scottidsntknow wrote:Hooray!!!AceDeuces wrote:Officially attending WUSTL.

I'm double-deposited mostly just so that I can credibly convey that I have interest in going somewhere else for negotiation purposes, but I think WUSTL provides a better fit for me than Emorymeb1212 wrote:Exactly! I double deposited because the other school is in the city I want to be in, but Wash U is the school I want to be at. Literally the hardest decision ever!

My first thought was that it was a good chunk of change, but I also paid my way through high school via scrapping.Chinese_Mafia wrote:Ummm....most folks would say how much money you got out of that scrap metal.Ricky-Bobby wrote:Were there snakes in it?Chinese_Mafia wrote:Damn...I just have to wait till June to know if am attending....

I sent a scholarship reconsideration request via email about a week ago and haven't heard anything back, so part of my trepidation is due to that waiting game...meb1212 wrote:Exactly! I only know three 1Ls who want to live/work in texas after graduation. One is working paid in-house position at Monsanto here in St. Louis, one is going to Locke Lord (Texas) for the summer, and the last one has an appellate judicial internship with the Texas Court of Appeals in Dallas. I don't have the packet because I was too lazy to go to the OCI meeting, but we were all given a list of the firms coming to our OCI this August. Perhaps Sublime or another 1L could tell you the Texas-offices that are showing upbound wrote:Yes. As far as SMU v. WUSTL, we send people to Texas, but it's hard to pinpoint your exact chances since only a handful of people in each class even want to go to Texas. SMU on its own isn't a slam dunk for Texas BigLaw, you'll need good grades. WUSTL will give you other market options in case you miss Texas or you change your mind. But I guess that's only relevant if you would consider other markets. If you're 100% certain you only want Texas, then perhaps it's better to go all-in with SMU and make sure you get the requisite grades. (If you don't get the grades and miss out on a Texas job from SMU, you're
It comes down to how certain you are that you ONLY want Texas essentially. But we do send grads to Texas, the kid I know who's going to Locke Lord this summer isn't from Texas, just from the South (Don't wanna be too specific).

Thanks for that info Cuse. I have definitely heard that the whole thing with getting to Texas is a little bit self selective. A lot of people don't seem to want to leave the Midwest once they get here.

I think you mean get sucked into the midwest and are never able to leave. (Obviously I'm still bitter about having to move back to Missouri after college)meb1212 wrote:Thanks for that info Cuse.
