It is an April Fool's Day thing. See:

retake

I just typed re-take there but without the hyphen.

Everyone who received that email:

Had you previously sent a negotiation email and received this response back?

EDIT: nvm, just saw the first person who posted about it had never contacted them. RC fail.

I had sent an email negotiating (with a higher scholly offer from Emory) and was told no more $ until after the deadline.

I'll be withdrawing. Wish I could've made Wash U happened it seems like a fantastic place. Good luck everyone!

In re ASW - not that I'm uninterested in learning all about WUSTL but Friday is going to be a loooong day. The happy hour at 4:00 will hopefully be enough to keep me going.

I'm in the same boat. No contact about scholarship yet, but no notice that I won't get one either. I have a scholarship offer for 75K from Emory, should I forward this to them now or wait for an initial response/offer?

Tossin' my 1000th post into the craziest group of misfits. Might not be the biggest audience, but possibly the most receptive.

1000 posts ago I was so naive and unaware. I am so glad I found TLS to share my trials and tribulations of this whole process. I feel like I would have made the biggest mistake going to law school last year. Well, this year, it's just not as big of a mistake! I truely feel I've learn more about myself out of this whole process than four years of UG.

Shout out to all those out there who have been a wealth of knowledge: From mods, to the Spivey Q&A, to alum and current students, and also my fellow December takers. Also, bound, you get a shout out for being the shit, kinda.

1000 more!!!

(Yes, I am this bored at work)

UCI or Notre Dame. Unless Texas comes through with some unexpected negotiation money!

Has it been more than 2-3 weeks since you were accepted? If so, definitely throw something out there. If not, I'd ride it out a little longer.

Any of the people withdrawing due to this news care to divulge where they are still considering? Just curious.

I'm almost positive. There are instances of the r-word from past posts changing into "retake" today.

But I quoted you so I don't look like a turd if you change it. :P

It was between Temple, Miami, and Wake Forest last year...before I found TLS of course.

I think I'll let it sit as the only time in the history of TLS that the words "do not" and "r.e.t.a.k.e." appeared side by side

first post on this board, hoping to get some advice since i have no clue what to do, and my only friend in the legal world is pretty wustl-biased. my question is how valuable an education at a school like wustl is vs. a lesser school? wustl is the best school i applied to, and there are many reasons why i feel it'd be a good fit. but it's also the most expensive school, and they have only offered 10k. now i'm comparing this to my other offers, which are 35-40k at lesser schools (schools in the 40's, 50's range per USN, which i know is a crock, but nonetheless...).

i find myself in a position where i can go to a lesser school for a total tuition debt over 3 years of approx. 40-50k, max. or i can go to wustl for a total tuition debt of 120-30k. that makes me gasp, as it should. now, my only friend who is in law school and a resource for all of this, is someone who was faced with more or less the same choice as i was, and made the decision to go to wustl, massive debt and all. she doesn't regret it one bit, and assures me that it's worth the school status as far as markets you can potentially find jobs in, salaries, and education. what are your thoughts? i've tried negotiating but haven't heard anything yet. i would love to go to wustl if it would really dramatically affect the end-game (jobs), but i don't want to shoot myself in the foot and take out an insurmountable amount of debt.

thanks in advance!
