Hoping for the best. 3.4/170, so I'm by no means a lock, but UM is at the top of my list.

Also: Can I solicit a fee waiver? On UM's website it says only financial need based waivers... DA HECK
Go for it. I got a fee waiver, so they do give them out.

Yeah, I emailed them about a merit fee waiver... and found out I already got one but didn't realize.

They gave me a waiver, so I'm definitely applying soon

Prepping app now, will submit right when LoR's are in, hopefully within a week or two tops.

Just a reminder about the spreadsheet! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... 0YlE#gid=0

Just set up a visit for next week! I'm really excited to see the school and I'll try to take some good pics to add to the thread. Now I just need to finish my PS and send in my app by Friday, and then I can enjoy the wait with all of you.

t14splitter wrote:Went through last cycles thread: looks a bunch of decisions came out Tuesday, November 6 (Lots of UM undergrads and summer starts, but not all. Also most submitted on the first day) and then more came out the following Tuesday. Didn't continue reading after that.

Edit: Also, it seems like the law school held an event for the UM undergrads the night before decisions started coming out to drum up interest in the school. They gave out some acceptances there. Does anyone know if there is a similar event scheduled at UM in the next few weeks? That might give us a good date to start expecting decisions.
FWIW: I'm pretty sure the event they had last year was on November 5th, and it was a Double Wolverine panel ("We really do admit Michigan UGs, so apply and come here!"). They threw the same thing this year back on September 23rd. That's not to say that there won't be another one (if I hear about it, I will certainly post), but I figured I would share what I know.

Someone asked it a few pages back but didn't see any discussion. Any idea how important one or two of the optional essays are, for someone above medians?

Think it really depends on your PS. The Optional Essays can help make up for a weaker PS.... i think that is what i have heard generally.

Congrats! Since you're already in, would you mind posting your stats/any relevant info? Also, did you receive an email or just see it on the status checker?

Hopefully this means a good number of decisions will start coming through this week.

Because of Umich's more unique status checker, I totally forgot to check it every now and then. Looks like I was just admitted via RD. So they are sending out RD acceptances now.

How exciting! Congrats - assuming an email will probably come later, but that's awesome news!
