Someone in another thread got a packet today. GPA median dropped .01 points too.

The class also shrunk a bit, hopefully that trend continues and employment numbers improve.

I'm the one who received the packet - it included a viewbook, and a letter from Dean Zearfross that included a fee waiver. As a caveat, the viewbook said that the #'s reported were as of July 31st.

Out of curiosity -- I assume those of you who got a packet already have LSAT scores?

Thanks. Had you already started a Michigan app on LSAC? Or can they even see that?

i dont think they can see it, but the letter was written before I started the app anyway (aug 19th).

My letter also mentioned GPA/LSAT (non-urm so no mention of that). I didn't start an app yet or anything. There was a semi-personalized handwritten message at the end regarding my undergrad career so perhaps they are sending them out as they get time to write notes haha. Hope that helps!

Interesting that it mentioned URM status... on the actual application it says that that won't be used as a factor in admissions based on Michigan Law. haha

They're banned from using race/ethnicity/gender/etc in admissions based on a 2006 constitutional amendment. I suppose they're still arguably allowed to use it in recruiting, though, as long as they end up evaluating all the applications the same. Unless the letter said something like "we think you have a good chance of being admitted based on your race..." which would be problematic.

The hand written note was a very nice touch.

Was a really really nice packet. UMich was low on my list among the T14, the packet moved it up for sure.

Yeah, I think that's the reaction a lot of people had. Just goes to show what good marketing can do.

Ugh. I got a Michigan packet last year, along with fee waivers from some of the T14. Now, although I've been getting fee waivers from some of the schools I didn't apply to, I haven't gotten an unsolicited e-mail from a single school I applied to last year. It looks like I'm going to have to e-mail every school I'm reapplying to and try ask for a fee waiver.
