People go everywhere from Michigan. NY, DC, Chicago, California. All doors are open.rseaney wrote:NavyOfficer23 wrote:Yes. Michigan is very down-to-earth, collegial, and friendly. can anyone with personal experience confirm?
looks gorgeous too... im just worried that there is a pretty significant tradeoff career-wise, especially since i do not want to practice in the midwest

I'm currently at Michigan and love it. Michigan is probably the most national law school in terms of where people go. Obviously students at any T14 school can go anywhere they can show a connection to, but students at Michigan go to an especially wide array of cities. If you're not from the midwest, the only city in the midwest that you're at all likely to end up in after Michigan is Chicago. Just to toss you all some info on where people go. Last summer at least five 2Ls went to the following cities in descending order:NavyOfficer23 wrote:Yeah. Washington, D.C. (76)
New York (68)
Chicago (54)
Detroit (13)
San Francisco (10)
Boston
Los Angeles
Philadelphia
Palo Alto
Minneapolis
Houston
Seattle
It really falls off after the top three, but you can go anywhere you want from Michigan. Also, the lawyers club is awesome (newly renovated). The school, which has basically been under constant construction for years, is now physically perfect.

Had a very last minute change of heart and submitted an app to Michigan just a few minutes ago. Smart choice? Maybe not, but we'll see what happens.

Just kidding. Welcome to the rat race!
CLARIFICATION: the rat race that is daily checking the MI status checker, not implying that MI is a pointless pursuit

Pretty sure this wait has been slowly killing me on the inside. Would anyone have any idea if they still have a good amount of acceptance offers left, or is it headed towards the waitlist/rejection part of the cycle? I know in last year's cycle there was a spike of WL's in very early February.
Also, congrats to anyone that has gotten an admittance so far!

I actually stopped looking at my status checker but the letter was dated late this week. I sent a Loci this past week as well so I think that actually helped. So if you're waiting, I would suggest sending an update.

First, this is all pure speculation. I have no idea what I'm talking about.LawSchoolHopeful5 wrote:Pretty sure this wait has been slowly killing me on the inside. That said, it seems like in general we're heading toward WL/rejection territory. It's just that time of the year, now that schools have a good idea of what the class profile as a whole is going to look like.
I would not go so far as to say that that doesn't mean that there aren't still a good number of offers left. Michigan made 1162 offers of admission last year, and there are (as I count) 78 acceptances reported on the spreadsheet, and I think I've seen general TLS opinion to think that we're somewhere around 10% of all applicants, which would imply there are plenty of acceptaces "left."
But, uh, don't take this as reliable information or anything.
edited for spelling.

Re: Michigan Applicants C/O 2017 (Applicants 2013-2014)
If TLS is 10% of all applicants, then we probably make up an even higher percentage of the acceptances. TLS members tend to be substantially better applicants than the general population.

Yeah it's been brutal. I think I hit the three month anniversary of my application being complete tomorrow. Pretty positive I'll be more shocked by not seeing complete on my application status than the actual result of my application :pwsparker wrote:Complete since the first week of October....getting very tired of waitinganagram wrote:Complete since November.
