That's what I like about Michigan, they acknowledge and address issues in the process instead of avoiding things with fluffy admissions-speak.

Best of luck to all who were wait listed today... I am still standing by at complete waiting for news.

Not really sure what everyone is talking about. To me it read just like all the other WL or hold emails. Although it seemed more genuine? idk. It basically said we can't take you but you're still awesome and will do great things. It mentioned how this cycle is a bit unpredictable.jk148706 wrote:What did this WL email say that everyone says was so nice

Also waitlisted!
GPA = median and LSAT > 75th.
I did write a Why Mich, but it also might have been a little too pro forma. Oh well, it's been fun! Going to deny the offer; good luck to everyone still in the running!

Obviously it sucks to get WL'd and most of the emails are cordial and nice enough about it, which is what you'd expect. Michigan takes that extra step though, makes you feel not so bad about getting it. I especially liked the anecdote in there about her friend who got in off the WL and did amazing things at the school.

I'd love to be in a strong enough position to get a YP waitlist. It means you're probably ballin' out elsewhere.
Exception: those ITT with 5, 6, or 7 WL already. What a despicable process this can be.

Withdrawn from the waitlist. There are probably others on the WL whose goals are more conducive to Michigan than mine, and plus, I'd like to have plans for LS made before the summer!

I submitted early January and am still at complete and have not yet gotten a waitlist notification... what does this mean?? Perhaps the rest of us have been slated for 'deny' or 'accept'? Hmmmm!
So sorry to all who received unfavorable decisions, but for what it's worth, you all seem like the loveliest people! Definitely the BEST in TLS!

Thanks Juno! It was weird to not include the status checker in my morning routine today.
For my sisters & brothers on the WL, when are you going to send LOCI? And with what?
I already submitted a Why Mich (and a second additional essay)... I don't know that I will have anything substantial enough to add to my file until 3/11 when I should get a very good summer job offer (not much, I know, but the best I can come up with for an addition right now).
What are you all thinking? When are you doing it? I'm afraid I should express continued interest before mid-March.

I am planning to have my LOCI submitted this week and maybe as early as tomorrow. I am K-JD (in undergrad now) and I have a pretty nice award that I received a couple of weeks ago that I was saving for waitlists. I'll be sending a LOCI and updating my resume at the same time.yossarian71 wrote:Thanks Juno! It was weird to not include the status checker in my morning routine today.

I'm probably going to wait a few weeks. I figure they'll be getting a flood of them this week and won't be making any WL decisions yet anyway. I want mine to a) stand out and b) be fresh in their minds when they go to make decisions.yossarian71 wrote:Thanks Juno! It was weird to not include the status checker in my morning routine today.

Generally makes sense to me. But, you don't think there is anything to be gained for eagerness?lawschool22 wrote:

Gotta weigh the benefits of primacy vs. recency http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_position_effect I want to be on their minds early as a guy to pull off the WL if they need a high LSAT.yossarian71 wrote:Generally makes sense to me. Re: Michigan Applicants C/O 2017 (Applicants 2013-2014)
To me it almost seems too "automatic" like, "got waitlisted, therefore must send in LOCI." It's kind of formulaic. At least by waiting a bit you do something that's a little different than the rest of the pack, and it conveys that you actually put some thought and time into your letter.yossarian71 wrote:Generally makes sense to me. Of course no one really knows, this is just my plan.
