There classes have to be 40% VA residents... So it depends from year to year based on quality of instate applicants.hopinandprayin wrote:how much of a bump is in-state really?

Re: UVA c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
It is almost definitely a positive thing. In past years I've seen people mention that Dean Richard has called people to discuss liabilities in the application (e.g. large amount of time unaccounted for on resume), and dings followed. That was not at all the case with this interview.lovejopd wrote:Anyone was waitlisted or rejected after interviews?...Is an interview request a positive thing... PM if you don't want to share here
It is a short (10-15 minutes), very friendly interview. Prepare for it like any job interview, expect a few basic questions about your experiences (I was flustered due to nerves and problems with Skype and flubbed these questions, still got in). Expect a few more detailed questions about why you want to come to UVA -- have good answers for that. There is no way that they are deciding whether or not to admit you based on a couple fluff questions about your experiences, but if it is clear in the interview that you are not a good fit for UVA and don't have good reasons for specifically wanting to be there then I imagine that would be a strong mark against you.
Otherwise the main purpose of the interview really just seems to be getting to know you. Dugas is a really nice guy, and he used some of the things we talked about to connect me with students and alumni who share my background and interests. Frankly I got a really good vibe from all of it, and if I was applying RD the process would definitely have influenced my decision on where to attend.

Does anyone have any idea how long it takes to receive financial aid after being accepted?

Anyone else slightly freak out when they saw UVA Law in their inbox and then realize that it was the e-newsletter??

Okay, I'm just going to say what we're all thinking: pics or it didn't happen. RDers who were already accepted, post your screenshots. UVA has historically *not* admitted RDers this early, and yield-phobic UVA certainly doesn't admit 175, 3.5+ -ers who don't write Why UVAs and aren't VA residents this early on.

Post screenshots or didn't happen? lol This is not the LSAT score posting. This is a ridiculous post I have ever seen on TLS. I know you have a great LSAT score and 'intelligence', but your attitude toward the one who got acceptances at UVA early is totally preposterous. Would you scan all your admission letters and post them here if someone ask you to do that?...This year UVA's admission policy changed(could be wrong). I seems that they follow semi-PT track at Duke to have a qualified student.TheMostDangerousLG wrote:Okay, I'm just going to say what we're all thinking: pics or it didn't happen. Their LSAT median took a hit so it seems they might be willing to take a hit on their yield in exchangeTheMostDangerousLG wrote:Okay, I'm just going to say what we're all thinking: pics or it didn't happen. You should ask for a fee waiver if you haven't already. I believe they gave one out to everyone who asked earlier in the cycle.

Re: UVA c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
My post was not truly intended to accuse anyone of anything, it was mainly just me wanting to see screenshots of the status checker for early RD admits. I probably phrased it in too accusatory a manner.lovejopd wrote:Post screenshots or didn't happen? lol This is not the LSAT score posting. This is a ridiculous post I have ever seen on TLS.
