Does UVA tend to do waves of WL/dings? The utter silence is eerie.

Yes, to some degree they issue waves of WLs and dings, with many scattered between the waves. From what I'm hearing in private conversations away from the forums, decisions and interviews have been very active for about the last week.

Waitlisted today, LSAT at 75, GPA at 25, not wholly unexpected. Non-resident, no Why UVA, and while I don't recall exact complete/submission dates, I received their status check email back on 12/05.

I was also waitlisted, but with 75 LSAT and GPA above the median. And I'm a non res who didn't write a Why UVA either. I wasn't upset initially but since it's my first WL/ding, it kinda stung.

Based on LSN users, it looks like UVA is slowly but surely getting to at least some of the mid-November files now. I'm early December, so guessing late Feb.

Last year, I was hearing crickets in mid february from UVA, so I wrote a Why UVA essay and e-mailed it in. I was admitted shortly after. They didn't throw me a dime, tho. (I think they may assume that you'll pay sticker if you're so interested that you write a why uva, but maybe that's just due to my medianness.)

Yeah, I probably read into it too much. Every T14 besides HYS does some form of YP, so if you're hearing crickets, then perhaps you're in the "will admit if interest is demonstrated" pile.

Edit: I also called and said that I was especially interested, hadn't heard back for a few months, and asked if I could speak with an adcomm. They got me in touch with Dean Dugas, we had a talk, he looked up my file, and said that writing a Why UVA might help. Perhaps that whole back and forth led me to the "really interested" pile.

Wait until mid-week next week, then send a thank you email to JD and say something along the lines of "I hope to hear from you soon," or "I look forward to hearing from you," etc.

Mine said complete and that shouldn't have been too long ago. I actually don't know when they go complete, but I sent my apps 12/08.
