USC and UCLA will NOT "ramp up" their clerkship effots. I mean they are already trying there and this is the best they got. In fact that's where UCI has done well because chereminsky connections to the judges. Where Irvine will trail USC and UCLA is big law placement because partners will probably not hire from Irvine unless you are top 10% when their class grows. At USC/UCLA it's about 30-35%( lower for more elite firms). Not to mention the really crowded California market which is killing all cali schools.Hrun wrote:Number of federal clerkships held, but the percentage dipped. If the percentage held, I wouldn't be as concern, but depending on how much they increase their class size in the coming years, things could get ugly especially if USC or UCLA ramp up their clerkship efforts. Don't you think?BentleyLittle wrote:Why do you say reality check? I thought the consensus was that the numbers would dip once the class size rose. Still, they held their clerkship numbers.logicspeaks wrote:Reality check: http://www.law.uci.edu/careers/students ... -2013.html
I'm still uneasy about prospects going forward though.

Applied 1/24 and haven't heard a peep. Seems to be the norm. UCI's my first choice. I've visited the campus, sat in one of Chemerinsky's classes, and have a handful of friends that are current 1Ls. Still waiting to hear back from a few others (Loyola, Davis, USC) and was wait listed at UCLA. Anyone still waiting to hear back?

Same, I put down a deposit today for another school just in case so I don't lose my scholarship... Cost of doing business if I end up going to UCI I guess.maple22 wrote:Applied in December and haven't heard anything

Considering shooting the admin office an email about the status of my application. It's been complete silence since they sent the application complete email with their little "status checkers are impersonal" bull. Good idea? UCI is the only school I have yet to hear from.

I asked them the same and they said something like, they only email out if something from your app is missing. So silence is good I guess? But it still Never hurts to ask I'm sure.bkegslounge wrote:Considering shooting the admin office an email about the status of my application. I'm just worried they sent me something and I never got it...? Probably not the case but I think I'll email them just for peace of mind. I do agree at this point that no news is good news... Still waiting as well, applied December. Hoping no news is good news--last year a lot of acceptances came out around this time.

My roommate was waitlisted last month with similar stats as mine (same LSAT but I have a slightly higher GPA and stronger softs). I applied about 3 weeks before him so I'm thinking they held onto my app to see what the rest of the cycle looks like. Makes me optimistic that my decision is not a ding.mathwhiz87 wrote:Still waiting as well, applied December. Hoping no news is good news--last year a lot of acceptances came out around this time.

Helpful stuff.
Last year it looked like things got busy in early April, and stretched for several weeks. Maybe that's why it's a May 1 deadline this year?

what does that entail, basically is it binding at a level? Still kind of unsure what it is commensurate with ie. first deposit? Second deposit? Or am I misreading this completely?BentleyLittle wrote:Anyone send in their SIR yet?

There's no deposit, the SIR basically states that you'll attend. I don't think it's binding but you submit one in lieu of a deposit.almostthere1 wrote:what does that entail, basically is it binding at a level?
