I applied in October and haven't heard anything since I went complete. I'm not an auto admit, but I've got strong enough numbers for Irvine. Hopefully they'll send out a wave of admits this month.kobe1020 wrote:I hope irvine can move faster....haven't heard anything after their email confirming received my app in early December

So how do you guys feel about UCI? At this time (my opinion may change later) if I get into USC, I would probably go to USC full sticker than UCI with $90k. I haven't heard from USC yet, but I'm saying if that was the case, I'm jumping off the UCI bandwagon.csargean wrote:Ditto this. At what point would you guys take USC over UCI?

Re: UC Irvine c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
i would at least wait until March when class of 2013 employment stats are somehow released (9 months after graduation is the cutoff time right...?) to see if UCI still got it. it their numbers show drastic decrease, well you know USC is the way to go even for that 90k..thesunnybunny wrote:So how do you guys feel about UCI? Re: UC Irvine c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
This is anecdotal, but I'm getting this straight from 1Ls who are in the know: Bar passage rate went down this year, to 78%, I believe. That is the reason they haven't given it much press like they did the year prior when pass rate was 90% (second only to Stanford).
Re giving up $90K to go to USC for sticker: that's a lot of bones to give up that you will have to pay back with compounding interest. Just saying.
Everyone's calculus is different depending on their means and prior undergrad debt, but paying a big chunk of your paycheck every month to a high interest loan is not fun.

Did anyone receive an application complete email? Or do they send an app received email followed by a decision email (months later)? I wish they had a status checker that I can obsess over all day long.

I don't think they ever did. But why would you ever go to ttttt UCI. Jk. 1l here. Also in regards to usc/Ucla versus Uci. It's def a personal choice but many ppl I know chose Uci over usc/Ucla. My roommate and I chose Uci. If you r set on big law it makes less sense. If u r ok with outcomes outside of big law, it is a much safer choice.

To be fair, I wouldn't go to USC/UCLA with sights set on big law either. I think 1/3 of their classes get into big law. That's 66% that don't.eaternation wrote:I don't think they ever did. To be fair, I wouldn't go to any law school in SoCal if I wanted to do big law in SoCal...ManoftheHour wrote:To be fair, I wouldn't go to USC/UCLA with sights set on big law either.
