Page 10 of this thread mentioned no one got off the WL last year

I'm on the waitlist and wrote a LOCI a couple of weeks ago, but I have since been accepted to USC with good money, so I will likely be withdrawing from the waitlist. hopefully that will improve the odds for those of you still waiting

Got the waitlist letter in the mail today. I don't think I'll be holding out on this one

I deferred from an acceptance last year. They overshot their yield and so I'm assuming they did not dip into the waitlist then.

It sounds like they are reducing the incoming class size. It was supposed to be 120 like last year, with an eventual goal of 180 if I recall correctly.

They're likely doing it in order to be more selective about their stats. The median lsat has been slipping and I think they want to stop that slide. All that's telling me they probably won't be calling on the waitlist.

Not trying to be a downer here guys, just sharing what I've ascertained between this year and last.

There is not much they can do to stop the LSAT from slipping when applications are falling. They can't decrease class size, it's already low.

Well, they kinda can decrease class size, and they are planning on it. This is the first year they will be ranked, and keeping their medians up will have a ripple effect on applications and rank for the next couple of years. So I don't think they have any qualms with going back down 20 or so people from last year to accomplish that.

I finally got the news I was waiting for! I was being considered for one of their public service fellowships, which would have included full tuition, and every day was a slow eternity while I waited for the final decision.

I was not selected, but I have 90k in scholarships. :) Wish I could get that number upped to 105, but I know I have no reason to complain - my dream school gave me money.

(But if anyone who has successfully negotiated with UCI would like to PM me and share their story, I'd love to hear it).

They said they were "looking at a small group of waitlist candidates and you are part of that group" and then asked if I had made a final decision on a school yet.

Just withdrew, I got a "are you considering us email" and I told them I'd need a full ride or else I'd be unable to attend.

Had you already sent in a LOCI or did they just contact you anyway?

Have all the waitlisted applicants received this email (or are there waitlisters who didn't get it)? I got one too and admire your confidence that it's basically an acceptance, but how are you so sure?
