App went complete today after submitting it October 30. Good luck to everyone. Hoping to get an answer sooner rather than later

Wanted to check in...didn't realize how nice Ithaca seemed. I just heard stuff about how cold it can get, but I'm used to winters.

Lavitz, I too was hoping like everyone else if you could send me a PM? Looking like Cornell is one of my top choices and would love to hear more about the school.

For those accepted or rejected as of now, how many times did your status date change? Also, how quickly was it changing? Daily, weekly?

This!
also, am I correct in saying that no RD have heard back yet, only ED?

So I'm just going to keep people updated on my status change in case anyone is interested. I submitted 10/29, went complete 11/5 and moved status date today 11/8. I applied ED btw

Anyone have any idea how admissions handles visits? Planning on being in Ithaca next weekend, but I suppose there's nobody in the office on weekends, right?

Idk much, but I know they have a open house sometime next week if you wanted to look into that.

Also I found out some information about applying RD to ED. I'm not sure if it contradicts what someone else found (but I think it does?). The office said you're allowed to apply only with one per cycle so an applicant would not be able to switch from RD (let us say applying right now) to ED round 2 (if someone were to decide to want to ED 2 in Jan).

Normally admissions only does tours during the week. I know it's not the same thing, but the law school is open to the public on Saturday until 6.

Yeah, I didn't even realize we had open houses. According to this page the open house starts at 1:15 on Friday. Involves a tour, and information session, and a class. I presume it starts with the class, since the only relevant 1L class that day would be Clermont's CivPro class at 1:25 (I'm not in that one).

Useful info. Thanks.

Yeah, you can kind of just wander around. Unfortunately, all the 1Ls will be working that weekend because we have our open memo due the following Thursday.

If I'm not too busy, I may be able to give a quick, informal tour. But I'll warn you, I've given an informal tour of Hughes to some random undergrads who knocked at the entrance once, and they were not impressed with my tour guide skills.

Looks like the few people who have gotten in ED have been 167 / just above GPA median. The sample size is too small to tell whether there has really been a boost for ED.

You're just above the GPA median.

You should probably only ED if you get a 167 or lower and would be willing to pay sticker for T-14. If you get 168 or higher, you're likely enough to get in with $ that you probably shouldn't ED.

Just my opinion.

So far, as far as I can tell, we have 2 ED admits? 167/3.72 (from LSN) and 167/3.68 (from this thread). I'm contemplating an ED app. SO TORN.

I'm not sure who is being asked about numbers but I'm null on the LSAT (PTing in the 168-171 range ATM) and my LSAC GPA is 3.67, so like at the median basically, decent softs i think.

I'm the 167 / 3.72. I have a built in scholarship from the GI Bill, and Cornell was my first choice of any school I could realistically get into barring an 8-10ish point bump in my LSAT, so ED was a viable choice for me. Almost any other circumstance, I wouldn't ED with a 167+ and a 3.7+

How about 167/3.5~...I'm not sure I'd have a decent chance at Cornell this cycle, especially with declining apps. Just thought ED might push me over the edge. It looks like (from LSN, at least) Georgetown is taking people ED with my numbers. Maybe Cornell would too?

idk, I'm not an expert on these things. can you retake in December? I'd probably do that before I went the ED route if I were you. If you can get just one point you are a 60% chance and if you can get to 169 you are a 75% chance at cornell (according to lsn). And then you could compare offers between georgetown and cornell.

I have one more retake and I'd rather save that for June in case I have to get off the waitlists. Cornell is definitely my first choice and I was hoping ED at 167/3.5~ would get me there.

...you'd rather save your retake for when it would mean less? The whole point is a high lsat can get you in at places that wouldn't have even waitlisted you...waiting to retake till you get waitlisted means you already got dinged at better schools.

Altoid, if I had to bet money, I would think you would get in ED with your current stats. You could always sign up for the December LSAT, and if you get in ED before the LSAT then just not take it. Of course, I have to wonder, do you have rich parents or some other way to pay for school? Just a couple more points and you could get at least a little money from Cornell.

Right now, you're likely not getting T-14 RD:

So yeah, you'd probably need to ED to get in.

But I think I would still retake in December since the scores come back before the ED deadline.

Writing all these Why X essays makes me wonder why Cornell doesn't ask for one. Thinking of submitting one anyway (via addendum), because I've heard that advice about UVA. Or would that look strange?

I guess my fear is that by writing an unsolicited one I would just come across as being presumptuous enough to think that I'll be YP'd, if that makes any sense.
