Wait, are people writing LOCIs without being waitlisted? Isn't that overkill? Spivey seems to hate on that strategy based on his latest blog post. I was under the impression that if you already did Why X? and haven't been waitlisted, then a LOCI is not useful.

This just sounds like impatience to me.

Before I received a decision (but two months after I submitted my application), I submitted a Why X essay by attachment via email, and the text of the email itself had the tone of a LOCI.

I think you all need to slow ya roll. The wait is agonizing, but it's been long for about everyone. Just relax lol.

I didn't write a Why X. But I should've. Is it unconventional send in a Why X (what I thought might be construed as a LOCI too) after app submission? (I submitted in mid-December.)

Ahhh, I misread, then. That doesn't seem nearly so bad!

Some folks definitely do what I described, though - it strikes me as douchey

I'm considering this as well, because I really want to get in here. But, and it's kind of been discussed before, Cornell had that three sentence why-Cornell in the app.

We had a few of us, myself included indicate that a Why X wouldn't really do anything but go a bit more in depth to what you should be able to cover in three sentences. Efficiency is everything, right?

But, then someone else reported that a Cornell adcomm encouraged Why X essays?

That said, I really want to get in. What is the risk of writing a Why X v. the reward.

FWIW: I feel like my three sentences were great and covered what I would cover in a Why X

I didn't even write the three sentences, but either way, perhaps they might get annoyed if they're in the process of reviewing our files and then a Why X turns up. But it should also make them more eager to admit us.

To anybody who knows: do we send the Why X straight to the admissions email?

Has anyone ever seen this old website article before? This seems very incorrect... Look at the chart this person uses halfway down the page.

Must be BS. So I would have a 99% chance of being admitted?

A supplemental essay shows that you're willing to expend time and effort to express your interest in the law school, which is positive in the eyes of the admissions committee. At least that's how I would interpret it.

You can submit the essay directly to the Admissions Office email as an attachment, they will then place it in your application file.

Anybody with a GPA at least 3.5 and a score of 168-180 should've gotten an acceptance immediately after submitting the app.

Apparently I skimmed right past that.

13th in the nation. 15th in NYC. Sounds legit.
