Hi all, I just have a quick question.

Did you guys write separate Why Cornell essay? I personally didn't write one since they had similar section in the application, but maybe that wasn't good idea..

I'm sorry in advance if same issue was addressed before.

I didn't, but I'm still verifying materials for completion, so that doesn't help.

I'm having trouble recalling what I submitted for each particular application, but generally, if a school specifically offered a prompt to solicit a "Why X" essay, I wrote one, and if they did not, I didn't.

Nope, just the 3 sentence thing on the app.

I actually did write a "Why Cornell" Addendum. I felt that the 3 lines they gave wasn't enough, but I did get placed on reserve... so we'll see how that works haha.

I didn't write one, though I haven't received my decision yet so I'm not sure how much that helps. I did have an interview recently though, so they didn't reject me straight off.

My two cents: they had a why Cornell section that asked for a few sentences. They clearly don't want an extra essay, so don't give them one.

If I was reading a file and someone attached an essay, when I asked for a few sentences, I'd be irritated because a) they didn't follow directions and b) I'd have to read extra stuff.

That's what I thought too but then I asked a Cornell admissions rep about it at an LSAC forum. She said the question in the app wasn't enough to say anything of substance and if you really wanted the committee to know about why you wanted to go to Cornell, you should write a separate statement.

Well, I'll be damned. Tricky play, Cornell. Tricky.

I went complete today!

How long is it usually between complete and an acceptance?

Thanks in advance!

Meh. I disagree. If all the filler and fluff is removed, I don't think I've ever read a why x that couldn't boiled down to three sentences. I was able to tell them everything I wanted to tell them in three sentences and I didn't have to stretch it out/water it down like I did for other schools. I wish all schools did it this way.

This makes me feel good. And also seems very rational.

I tend to agree with it as well, unless one truly has a 'dream school', whatever that means.

Just went Complete 3 today, 1/30. Last date was two days ago. Does this mean action?
I just spent two hours in their law library, so a major notification today (although unlikely) would be quite the coincidence.
