Not sure if this has been discussed but they may just be waiting for some Butler or Hamilton money to free up, since those have to be given with acceptances.

In! With Butler! I can't believe it. I'd started seriously thinking they'd lost my application. GPA>75, LSAT>50, complete since October, in via email.

Congrats! I guess they probably made their selection prior to the holds today. You must have done something right!

Awesome! I agree, they must have been waiting for some money to free up... seems like a lot of Butler's/Hamilton's have been handed out already out of the limited pool. Maybe that's what is going on with all you >75% holds too... maybe they just don't want to come at you with their hands empty. Either way, congrats to you and good luck to the others!

^^ wanted to add, it would make sense for them to be waiting for funds too, since I could see their strategy being to go hard and fast after their first tier applicants since there is such a small number of applicants this year and then scaling down from there as they have applications withdrawn.

What in tarnation is going on in Morningside Heights?

I have a feeling this may be the result of Columbia's inexplicable practices this cycle:

While I understand the pain those being Held despite stellar numbers are experiencing, think of how this portends for those of us with sub-stellar numbers! I'm definitely feeling a ding coming my way as a splitter...or, worse yet, a WL -> Ding.

FWIW, I got in as a splitter with subpar numbers. No Hamilton/Butler, but still... Don't lose hope :)

Inexplicably, have been passed over by yet another hold wave. Still radio silence since my submission in late November. Splitter, 25th GPA, 75th LSAT.

Cue "Comfortably Numb" as I brood darkly over my drink in the corner booth. Hello hello is there anybody out there? Let me know if you can hear me...

Arrived home to find a lovely, shiny, powder-blue... admissions brochure. Thanks, Columbia, but I'm already on board. Don't you remember? I went complete last week and everything.
