Internationals are notified via email.jy9626 wrote:Went complete on Jan 24th. I am an international applicant living in Asia.
The status checker says that decisions will not be available online but will be mailed. It takes 2~3 weeks for any mail to arrive here from the US. That's how long it took NYU's admission package to arrive here.
To those who were admitted: Would the status checker indicate that a decision letter is sent?
Would requesting them to send me an acceptance email work?
The status checker stays "complete" forever and ever.

I submitted on 1/16 and I got a notice on 1/17 that said "Initial Application Components Received."
It says to give 2 weeks for completion. It has now been 3 weeks. Should I contact the admissions office or wait longer?
2: For another example, it hasn't been three weeks. Columbia takes forever. Just chill.
My apologies Jenna.
I submitted my app on January 3rd, and only went complete today. So yes, be patient.

Not relevant for this person, of course, but for others: I'm pretty sure Canadians have reported no email and decisions by snail mail.illyria wrote:Internationals are notified via email.jy9626 wrote:Went complete on Jan 24th. I am an international applicant living in Asia.

Opened the mailbox to find a big blue envelope. Turned it over to see it was the NYU acceptance I had known about since last Wednesday. Obviously still happy but thought I had scooped both NYU and Columbia .

Same thing happened to me last week with my Duke Law accept. Was still excited to see the package, but I already knew I got in there and was hoping for news from Columbia. Hoping today is the day for my CLS envelope.webbdp3 wrote:Opened the mailbox to find a big blue envelope. Turned it over to see it was the NYU acceptance I had known about since last Wednesday. I only received the admitted students handbook in the white envelope, never received the blue envelope initial letter. Apparently it was returned to sender.....

Woohoo nice! And that's too bad you didn't get to know until you got the handbook! You should yell at them. Maybe then they'll get the message that they should NOT BE RELYING ON THE USPS.koalacity wrote:Congrats!!! Didn't get anything today either. The only thing I got from a law school since 12/19 was an interview from Chicago. I need this silence to end.

Sorry if this has been covered....but does the status checker change from complete to decision mailed or anything like that?

Re: Columbia c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
All this talk of not receiving an initial letter is starting to make me feel like I'm in the same boat. It might have to do with NYU e-mailing me saying that a letter was returned to sender. My apt management/local USPS suckssssssssssss
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
