Does it take a long time for CLS even to confirm receipt of application?

Re: Columbia c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
For the app question 5.5: "Has your education in college, university, or professional school been interrupted for one term or more for any reason?"
They immediately follow up with a blank letting us explain:
6. If your education was interrupted, explain the circumstances. (maximum characters 500)
BUT THEN, they require the same explanation again in the addenda, this time as an attached document without character limit.
I don't really need more than 500 characters to explain...but I'm not allowed to not attach the addenda. Am I supposed to just repeat myself??

I was wondering the same thing, since I submitted my app a few days back and hadn't heard anything.NapoleonXV wrote:Does it take a long time for CLS even to confirm receipt of application?
After browsing their website, I think it could take up to two weeks before they confirm.

I went to their website and clicked on the "Check Application Status" page, and I entered my information - it says they've received all the necessary components to make my app complete, and are in the process of compiling them. Says they will send an email once they have finished compiling everything.

I just followed what you did and saw my application was complete as well.The-Specs wrote:So, I still haven't recieved any confirmation from Columbia about my app but I went to their website today and put my info in and not only does it say they have my app but that it is complete. So, whether they acknowledge receiving your app or not it could already be in the works.Let It Roll wrote:I was wondering the same thing, since I submitted my app a few days back and hadn't heard anything.NapoleonXV wrote:Does it take a long time for CLS even to confirm receipt of application?

Sucks we're gonna have to wait a couple of months either way.

Checking in; decided to bite the bullet and apply to schools in NYC, despite my fear of being strapped for time and money in an expensive city with numerous distractions!

Cant speak to the village life, but morningside is insular enough to avoid being TOO distracted. Its just nice to have so much available culture on weekends.kathj06 wrote:Checking in; decided to bite the bullet and apply to schools in NYC, despite my fear of being strapped for time and money in an expensive city with numerous distractions!
The money? Yea that part undeniably sucks. New york is expensive in a new way. You have to accept that saving is useless and you will be broke/further in debt here. Then again, my rationalization is, why sweat the small stuff: its pennies (aside from rent) compared to the $$ we're spending/loaning on tuition.

Does Columbia give fee waivers, and if so should I expect one with a 172 and a 4.00? My application is ready to submit, but I've been holding off for this reason.

They probably won't for a while, if they do. I'd go ahead and submit if you're ready.HYS123 wrote:Does Columbia give fee waivers, and if so should I expect one with a 172 and a 4.00? My application is ready to submit, but I've been holding off for this reason.

3.58 to 3.54 drop 25% GPA median... damn. Not that I'm within that range but still. Damn.

That is true--if I'm already gonna be six figures in debt, what's a few thousand more on top of that? It does make sense, but it'll be a mindset that might take some getting used to!jbagelboy wrote:Cant speak to the village life, but morningside is insular enough to avoid being TOO distracted.
