I don't think it's against you directly - it's just that your tone sometimes comes across as a bit aloof in the threadsluckystar84 wrote:my PS is tailored so I have do some school-specific research to revise my docs before I submit. if it were just a 5min ordeal that's a nobrainer. but similar to yale, if it's all the same to cls, then I'd prefer to take my time. i was just thinking that any time between now and xmas is the same because they'll go on break soon so they won't get to a 12/11/13 submitted app (for example) until when they resume in jan.
that's why I brought up the duke PT thing--i didn't do it for nothing. i remember something about how apps submitted in midDec will hear back in early jan because they go on xmas break. that might've already happened w/ cls.
where is all the acrimony coming from
(I remember a long ago drunken outburst when I took your tone that way! lols)

I was being optimistic over in the HLS thread about my JS2 chances and expressing how much I would love to get one Monday (half in jest) even though I know it's definitely less than 50/50 shot, and here is an excerpt of the PM:applelover wrote:What did he saylawschool22 wrote:And in PMs...edwardt1988 wrote: luckystar is an interesting character... he comes off as a bit condescending in some of his posts, I think
ETA: It's not so much the point of the PM, which is a logical question (I guess). It's just (a) the tone, and (b) why even send it? What's the point?how are you so confident in your ability to get a JS2 at any time, let alone this Monday? I'm not doubting you--i have no idea what your chances are. but you said yo were 3.6/173 with non-spectacular softs, and I doubt one can make up that much ground in an interview.

and LS22 - I don't think it's out of reason for you to get a JS2 (in fact I think it's highly likely!!!)

I think there will be a batch of decisions released today. I have no basis for this, but I just like, feel it.goldgirl786 wrote:Aside from the sourness lol...think we'll hear back this week for ED? I can't take it anymore UGH...hashtag impatient
(Note: times when my "feeling" predictions have been incorrect: December 2012 LSAT release date, October 2013 LSAT release date, 2013 Harvard JS2 dates... I really have no business predicting anything.)

Re: Columbia c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
You already questioned me via PM on why I thought I was fortunate enough to get a JS1 with my numbers, and I took the time to explain it. My response on why I felt I had a shot at a JS2 was likely to be the same. It's fine to ask, I just don't know why you have to do it in the manner that you do.luckystar84 wrote:well somebody might ask that ?? if they were trying to figure out what another applicant is doing to get the most bang for their buck out of their app.
sending it for the purpose of being interpreted as condescension...sounds like a waste of everyone's time
Maybe you don't realize how you come across, but if that's the case you really want to work on it, because you won't have much success in this (or any modern) profession. Being able to communicate electronically in a way that does not offend people is an extremely important skill to have when you start working full time.

I'm bringing this thread back on topic before it gets moved to the lounge.
Question: How many of you would take Columbia with $$$ over HYS?

Hello everyone! I don't frequent this site much so forgive me if I'm asking a stupid question.
I got a new job recently (since I submitted my app) and was wondering if it was okay to send columbia an updated resume. Harvard and Stanford encourage people to do so but I see nothing on Columbia's website besides a letter of continued interest (which I wouldn't send unless I got wait listed).
Anyone know? Would they be annoyed?

Re: Columbia c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Depends how much $$ we are talking. I still have some non-big law aspirations so it would take a fairly large sum to steer me away from HLS. I can't be sure unless it were real, but I know for sure it would have to be greater than 50%. Probably more like 75%+ which is unlikely for me.applelover wrote:I'm bringing this thread back on topic before it gets moved to the lounge.

You can call their office and ask, but I'm sure they'd want to see an updated resumeTela1283 wrote:Hello everyone! I don't frequent this site much so forgive me if I'm asking a stupid question.
