Wait, they've sent emails on Saturdays before?
I think some international folks have reported getting emails on Saturdays in the past. I don't know if it's automated, or if they didn't check until Saturday, or whatever. But I think they have.
That's also when the first letters start coming out. Usually NYC people report them first, since it would have only been a day if they mailed them Friday.

So I shouldn't expect to see a letter in my mailbox this afternoon? Being outside of NY, it'll be next week at the earliest?

I would say you shouldn't expect a letter until after an international prospective student (or anyone, really) reports an acceptance email.

Definitely this. Personally, I'll be surprised if they release decisions today, given the interview invites plot twist.

Yeah, and if they DO make some decisions today, the only people who will know today are international applicants who receive emails. The rest of us will be at the mercy of the USPS, so it could come Saturday or next week, if you are accepted today.

So are we waiting until about 5 p.m. for someone to report an email?

Well if it's internationals, who knows when they'll wake up.

Don't they know they are not allowed to sleep for the next 48 hours, and that their email client needs to be on auto refresh?

You must not go to sleep. But wait, did you get an interview request? I can't remember.

No, I'm just abroad right now. That hasn't stopped schools from sending all mail to my permanent address.

Me either, but I figure it's not necessarily a bad thing, right?

I have no problems staring at my email all day; it's been like a full-time job for the last few months. Maybe I'll update my resume with that and send it into HLS

Nah, it seems like a lot of people who didn't get it are probable admits.

But we can assume, if you're below the medians, that it's a bad thing? I assume for someone that's a longshot they want to reassure themselves?

I wouldn't assume anything. They said it was random -- it looks like it was random. People above the medians didn't get it, people below the medians didn't get it. People above the medians got it, people below the medians got it.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
