"We few, we happy few, we Band of Brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day!"
— King Henry V, Act 4 Scene iii, Shakespeare
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks

What have you got to say about Friday acceptances!?

The sheer length of this wait is causing me to lean NYU even if I DO get in.

Nothing at all? I copypasta'd a rousing speech for nothing?
New theory: Columbia admissions is filled with giggling little girls who monitor these boards and conspire to thwart our predictions.

I'm guessing we shouldn't have gotten our hopes up for today, or any day.

This wait is unreasonable though. And it's a weirdly long wait if they deny a lot of the people they haven't responded to. Like, what would've been the point stringing everyone along for so long?

Why do people not withdraw from their backup when they get into their preferred school? "Just in case."tenniscourt wrote:checkers wrote:The only certainty is disappointment.tenniscourt wrote:I'm guessing we shouldn't have gotten our hopes up for today, or any day.

Admissions officers are hired and fired on the classes they can construct, so them self-limiting their options without benefit is probably not going to happen.

But why not at least tell people they're being held instead of nothing at all?checkers wrote:Why do people not withdraw from their backup when they get into their preferred school? Was your acceptance by email, mail, or phone?
I know Columbia doesn't normally do phone acceptances but I live no where near New York and missed a New York phone call......

It was via email from admit@law.columbia.edu. The subject line was "Admit."

Checking LSN, I find the lack of rejections disconcerting...
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
