I have one, but it's really out there. The slow time would make more sense if they actually were NOT using a metric, and were, instead, carefully reading each application holistically. But like I said, it's out there.Elleonleo wrote:sigh. Any new theories?

I know for a fact they at least read your resume. I got emailed a question about mine and my numbers would probably suggest auto-admit if they didn't care about anything else.bravo1085 wrote:I have one, but it's really out there. What if they really do ruminate over every application in that manner, and are just now finishing up with the late submittals? Lively debates are held over the strengths of prospective students in the interest of constructing a diverse and accomplished class. Meanwhile, we're on this thread giving them a hard time for actually caring about doing their jobs right....... NAAAHHHHHHHbravo1085 wrote:I have one, but it's really out there. Anyone else thinking Columbia is gonna make us wait until April 30 until we find out our fates just so they can laugh maniacally at our despair for the next couple of weeks?

It's just hard for me to not imagine them all cackling over a cauldron and pouring over our applications in a scene straight out of Hocus Pocus.

Ugh I would get my hopes up for today but wasn't ASW this past weekend? Would they need time to gauge interest before making more decisions/not had looked at apps much? Or is it this upcoming weekend?

According to their calendar page, the admitted students days are weirdly this wednesday and thursday (April 9-10). The page also lists "Mondays at Columbia" starting on 4/28 as a time for admitted students to come check it out.

In terms of what that means....i dunno.

Hm.... Maybe they haven't been as active since they're planning for the admitted student days this week?
A random Wednesday/Thursday probably means they weren't expecting too many people anyway so their priority probably wasn't attendance anyway.
Or I could be wrong and they've been actively working to get us all decisions within the next couple of days

Someone may have already asked about this, but if you try to log into the admitted students website, it's the same login as for the status check, right? I ask because my application is still pending completion, but I can log into the admitted students page. That seems odd.

Actually, their previous ASW was also a Wed-Thurs. They most likely do it this way to coordinate with NYU's Thurs-Fri ASWs that fall on the same weeks, so people could fly into the city just once for both. (Unless you're like me, in which case you flew in for NYU's but creepily stalked Columbia's ASW because you hadn't heard back yet.)tenniscourt wrote:Elleonleo wrote:According to their calendar page, the admitted students days are weirdly this wednesday and thursday (April 9-10). Given the fact that it is now the Monday before ASW and they have not rendered decisions, I conclude that they don't give a flying hoot about getting us to ASW.

Same for me, and I haven't been admitted. I wouldn't think anything of it because the site it takes you to has nothing on it which pertains solely to admitted students. I'd say it's just sloppy web design.bravo1085 wrote:Someone may have already asked about this, but if you try to log into the admitted students website, it's the same login as for the status check, right? That's what I was thinking. It looks like it just diverts you back to the dashboard page.checkers wrote:Same for me, and I haven't been admitted.
